Hi Sandy; I used to really miss my porridge, or cream of wheat or Red River

Cereal in the morning! We do not get all the low carb specialty foods up here

in Ontario, Canada, but I found a package of EXPERT FOODS " ThickenThin

not/Cereal " which just contains powdered pasteurized egg whites and a veg. gum

blend (acacia, xanthan, carob, guar)

By itself (following directions on the package and microwave in a very large

container having PAM sprayed the edges of the bowl to prevent overflow) it makes

a tasty cream of wheat-like cereal; then I started adding ground flax seed and

later, barley) all were good!

When the package was all gone, I tried the same method with just the flax and

barley - adequate - but not the same " mouth feel " Have more on order and am

trying some of their other products too! Of course I add cinnamon and cream to

the mix - 7th heaven!

I use the Whey protein for shakes mostly - an on-the-run meal.

Subject: Whey protein /soy protein isolate

Hi all,

I'm trying to make up my own hot cereal (was actually trying to duplicate the

hot cereal I buy so it would be cheaper and one of the ingredients is soy

protein isolate in the product I buy so I bought some. But I seem to remember

that some soy products are horrible tasting and it made me wonder if I should

take back the soy protein isolate and buy some whey protein powder and use that

instead for better taste?

Are they interchangeable and does anyone know how adding the soy protein isolate

might make something taste? It wasn't cheap and I'd rather get the one that

tastes better!

~Sandy
