Have you ever had your hands tied down in the ICU beecause you tried to take

out the ventilator?

HAHA story time :-) I have memories of one of my many AN surgeries. Well, of AFTER surgery. I tried so hard to get somebody's attention. I WANTED THAT DANG TUBE REMOVED FROM MY THROAT!! Well, after getting no response from any of the many nurses in the room, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I proceeded to remove the tube myself. 'well, being Deaf, I couldn't hear the buzzer that must have gone off. How do I know this? Before I knew it, all of the nurses were at my bed. I would not recommend this to anyone. It was a stupid thing to do. Later, I learned that I could have messesd up my throat. And the nurses were none too heppy :-( I learned my lesson. JUNE

My surgeon for my upcoming myo is Dr. Zinaman, and he's considered one of the

best...1 hyst in 1,000 myos.

If he removed all the fibroids there would be no uterus left--I have too many

to count. He will remove the " softballs " but not the " grains of rice. " I

suspect he will remove 40-70 or so, and then I will try to conceive but the

chances are very slim.

He has also made it very clear to me he doesn't know how slowly or quickly

the remaining fribroids will grow. Also that fibroids will be a lifelong

battle. He hopes drugs will be approved so a hyst isn't inevitable later. And

still

I am sure he will make me sign the hyst form just in case, he says 2% chance.

I think other times--besides when to take them all out would leave no

uterus--the doctor thinks it is too close and may puncture something--or that

some

are causing problems with fertility or bleeding more than others due to

location, and leaves ones he/she may perceive as 'harmless' or at least less

harmful,

perhaps to leave the overall uterus stronger.

Now I think my during last hysteroscopic resection my GYN actually " missed "

many fibroids (or freaked out when she saw what was going on in there) and that

is different and not right...but I think there are legit reasons why fibroids

might be left in in some cases.
