Guest guest
Hi Judy, Thanks for your input on the supplements. I already take quite a few supplements including the Chromium, Natures Way diabetic vitamins and Natures Way 'Sugar Control' which also had many of these supplements in it, ALA, extra magnesium, extra D, a good supply of B Vitamins (I mentioned the B3 niacinamide because I read a couple of things about newly diagnosed diabetics and how this could help but I know I need to be careful with that one). I tried the Vanadyl sulfate but felt horrid the next day so decided maybe I better not take it. I really was curious how many used these other supplements and if anyone had any more information than what I already had. And you are correct in how careful we have to be about supplements and herbs. I don't want to take too much of a good thing. The bitter melon - what I read was that it can " mask " sugar in the urine so your doc should use a different test for kidney function or something of the sort. Not sure if this is true or not. It sounded like this supplement was safe and possibly good for diabetics. It sounds like we (your husband and I) are on the same supplements though. Anyone feel that the R-lipoic acid is really much better than regular synthetic alpha lipoic acid? I've read a few sites where they claim it is much better (and I have found it to be not that much more expensive) Sandy Re: Supplements I'm giving my husband quite a number of supplements. Because of his family history, I've had him taking chromium picolinate for a number of years. That's considered one of the most important supplements for diabetes and it's not on your list. I bought a bitter melon once but forgot to cook it before it rotted. I give him a vanadyl sulfate pill daily. Gymnema is in the combo pill. I give him a niacinamide pill daily. I add cinnamon to " everything " I also give him ALA, CLA, and just started him on a bit DHEA. He's been on L-Carnitine (for his heart) for some time. Ah, yes, CoQ10. We are both on general nutritional supplements such as a good B vitamin combo, multi-mineral, vitamin C, vitamin E, fish oil, etc. Judy
