Dorland's medical dictionary defines it as " any protein that is soluble in water and moderately concentrated salt solutions and is coagulable by heat " . the terms your doctor used may refer to the degree of protein: there is " microalbuminuria, " which means microscopic (ie undetectable by the human eye) amounts of protein (albumin) in the urine. " proteinuria " refers to higher concentrations of albumin (protein) in the urine. hope this helps. the latter is indeed implicated in kidney problems. any other medical people out there able to clarify more? kcd
