My husband is NF2. Had 1 tumor removed surgically at age 42. Had another on same side removed at age 63 by Gamma Knife (he had already lost hearing in that side. He is having his hearing side tumor removed at HEI this coming Thursday. Everyone please say a prayer for his well-being and the expertise of Dr. Brackmann and Dr. Hitselberger. We'll be leaving from DFW to LA on this coming Tuesday 2/4/03.

Our daughter, now 29, was born with a birth defect, "Bilateral Choanal Atresia", which I'm not sure is related. She's had major surgery 16 times for this condition, the last one a year ago. She was born in Tampa and since this is such a rare condition, at the age on 18 months, the University of Florida wanted to study her case. They did a complete chromosone study on her and everything was normal. Would this mean she does not carry the NF2 gene? She has a very slight hearing loss, but doctors say it's related to the Choanal Atresia, no other symptoms. I'm just curious about her chromosone study, would the chromosones change over the years? Our older daughter, now 40 has no symptoms whatsoever. Our son, 38, does have a hearing loss and is going to be tested soon.

Anyone who knows about Chromosones, please respond.
