Guest guest
Conscientious and consistent testing is the ONLY way for us to figure out how our bodies react to food. We have to test before we eat to get our 'starting point', and 1 and possibly 2 hrs AFTER we eat to see what that food/meal did to our bg. Testing when we first get up in the morning and when we go to bed lets us know if we need to adjust our meds/insulin/bedtime snack, etc... That's 8 to 10 times a day easily. Expensive, yes...if there's no insurance. But, with or without insurance, the complications from high bg's will be more expensive...both physically and financially. We are here to help educate and support each other to hopefully prevent unnecessary suffering from complications. Watching our numbers very closely is the only way to know how we each utilize the carbs we eat. Ebay is usually a good place to find test strips cheaper than retail. ~a T2, dx 2002, d&e...Byetta and split Lantus In a message dated 1/1/2006 10:26:36 AM US Eastern Standard Time, ghostlady@... writes: Testing 8 times a day is going to get expensive. Test strips are not cheap and some insurance companies will only fill for 4 tests a day. I test only before meals and before bed, this helps me figure out how much insulin I will need. Belive me, watching your numbers too much will drive you crazy. Marla
