Guest guest
Kathleen, Your " feeling funny " at 156mg/dl is what I call a " pseudo-hypo " . The body is used to higher bg's so something more normal feels low to it, hence the symptoms. I'd say you did the right thing with the salad as it's best not to treat these things like you would a normal hypo (<70mg/dl) as that would put bg's way high again. As you work thru these episodes as your bg #'s get lower, you will eventually get " hypo " indications at the bg level where it's a true hypo & those should be taken seriously & treated promptly. This hypo-awareness at proper levels can take a while to achieve. BTW, you didn't " mess-up " , things were just " different " . Most of us don't lead regimented lives where we eat, sleep, work, etc at the same predictable times every day. That's life! ***************************************** , T2, dx'ed 4/98 with Fasting bg 350mg/dl & HbA1c 15.5% Controlling until last month with LC-D & very little E Average Fasting bg 105mg/dl, Last HbA1c 6.0% 7+ Year Historical HbA1c 5.6%-6.0% Now Experimenting with Metformin, Glyburide & " Merlot Therapy " for HbA1c nearer 5.0% >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>> Today was messed up meals again. I ate a late breakfast thinking that I could get home for a late lunch, but I did take two slices of turkey breast lunch meat along for a snack. I ate my snack around 12:30 and by 3:30 I was really hungry and feeling funny, so I took my blood sugar and it was 156 (and I felt like I was really low). I came home and fixed myself a large bowl of salad (iceberg salad mix from the store) and plan to eat a real supper in a couple hours. I just need something right away and the lettuce was there and isn't too many carbs. Kathleen <<<
