Guest guest
Hi ,I had a very large meningioma reomed from Temporal Lobe when I was 14 years old. I am 48 now .I guess it didnt hit any major arteries ..I have multi meningiomas and schwanommas now in my head and ave been taking the drug Hydroxyurea for the last 6 years .since I started the drug there has been no further growth of either my meningiomas or schwanommas .There has been research that it halts growth of many meningiomas it doesnt shrink them but it does stop there growth in many cases ..You may want to look into that especially if your meningioma involves an important artery . Guest guest
hey Tex Remember when I was "fuzzy" a few years ago?? That was when he shaved my whole head and took 3 meningimoas from right side brain and 2 from left brain, then just last August, he took 3 more out, needless to say I have been quite lumpy. My surgery's all went well really, I had a few minor setbacks, most aggravating was last year for some reason my eyes were fixed and dialated for months afterwards, they're fine now. I don't know how close any of these were to arteries, but I did a-ok. Hugs, Caren

Guest guest
okay folks it is that time again... getting close for another mri and i start to get worried. Has anyone had a meningimoma (sp) removed from the brain? Even more was it close to an artery? This is the one that scares me and Dr. Demonte at MD is watching and has said it will need to come out...but he is waiting as long as he can. He said he would take it now if I wanted him too, and was going that route until I talked to the shrink and changed my mind. But the surgery is nasty from what I hear or read and was wondering if anyone has had one of these things removed. Being by what he calls an " important artery " and the risk of stroke and death, vision, loss of use of arm/legs... just down right worries me... esp the stroke and death thing. Any thoughts are most welcomed
Guest guest
Well not to be the grim reaper but My Mom who also has NF2, had a Menigoma removal, I'm not sure how close it was to an artery but a long story short, during the surgery she stroked and has spent the rest of her days confined to a wheel chair in a nursing home. Now with the bad news out of the way, she had successful menigoma removals in the past and I believe other crew members have as well. Pete meningimoa question okay folks it is that time again... getting close for another mri and i start to get worried. Has anyone had a meningimoma (sp) removed from the brain? Guest guest
most everyone I know who had menigioma of brain removed do quiet well, fairly painless surgery but always risky. I had paralysis for a few weeksafter mine, totally unexpected, but it all came back, 98% anyway! kmschutza wrote: > okay folks it is that time again... getting close for another mri and > i start to get worried. Guest guest
My mom has had a meningioma that was actually invading a vessel (or artery?) treated. The neurosurgeon said it was "inoperable", and so she had Gamma Knife. Whish stopped the tumor growth. That was at least 3 years ago and that tumor has shown nothing but shrinkage. But just a thought if you had looked at radiation at all? Olivia
Guest guest
Hello , My daughter (25) had a 4.5cm meningioma removed from the top right lobe end of January this year. The procedure lasted appox 3 hours - 45 minutes afterwards, she was sitting up having a conversation with me. No apparent neurological problems afterwards. She had facial swelling that disappeared within a week. I hope this helps and as well will say a prayer that your experience is as positive!! Pat ('s Father) meningimoa question okay folks it is that time again... getting close for another mri and i start to get worried. Has anyone had a meningimoma (sp) removed from the brain?
