Is turkey jerky ok for diabetic to eat as a snack? turkey jerky: read the package. I've never found beef jerky I wanted to eat because it seems that there is always something sweet in the stuff they marinate it in before drying or " jerking " it. apples: they seem to be about the same carb-wise regardless of how sour they taste to us. Never quite figured that one out. grapes: way too much sugar. flavored yogurt: it's sweetened. Do you like fried pork rinds? They're a nice snack. Crunchy, tasty, and can even be used as a chip with dip (preferably one you made yourself or one you really looked hard at the package labeling on. Package labels: be sure to notice the serving size. Some things can look really good until you notice that the serving size is two tablespoons (many dips and condiments) or 1/2 cup (often for cereals, pastas, etc.) sky
Guest guest
The thing about yogurt is that if its not the no sugar added kind it is very high in sugar. In fact I always keep it around when my blood sugars go way down. Most are over 40 sugars, (whereas even the sweetest orange juice is about 27). Apples are ok because they have a lot of fiber. Be careful of nuts, some are very high in carbs. The Mcs ones are candied. Since I have been a diabetic, I think I have only eatten at Mcs once or twice, that was because we were traveling. Actually for breakfast I usually have an Atkins shake. I have never been much of a breakfast eater but you should eat in the morning when you have diabetes. marla
