Guest guest
Kathleen, With meals spaced so far apart, it's even more important that you eat enough protein which digests typically in 4-5hours & a portion is converted to blood glucose. That will help carry you thru until the next meal. Also, I'm a firm believer in eating sufficient fat (the good kind if you wish) because it slows the digestion of carbs, giving you their energy over a longer period of time plus it provides energy on it's own. I find that fat mitigates hunger & allows me to go long spans between meals without hunger. All that said, couldn't you sneak in some cheese-sticks, nuts (primarily fat/protein) or some other snack in between meals (at recess or ???)? Allowing yourself to be hungry just makes sticking with any eating plan tougher. ***************************************** , T2, dx'ed 4/98 with Fasting bg 350mg/dl & HbA1c 15.5% Controlling until last month with LC-D & very little E Average Fasting bg 105mg/dl, Last HbA1c 6.0% 7+ Year Historical HbA1c 5.6%-6.0% Now Experimenting with Metformin, Glyburide & " Merlot Therapy " for HbA1c nearer 5.0% >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> , My schedule will be even worse starting next Tuesday, I teach at a small all girls school set up for girls who have learning issues and are from families living below poverty level ... School starts at 8:30, so I try to eat by 7:30 and often I'm hungry before lunch at noon. Then school lets out at 4pm and I usually don't eat supper until after I am finished grading.
