Kathleen,

You're doing great!

When you get to normal readings is so very much a YMMV thing that I'd not

even venture a guess.

As long as you're making progress, just keep doing what you're doing. At

this point, your meter is your new best friend.

You might consider asking your Dr to bump up your Metformin dosage if you're

tolerating it at the introductory level of 500mg/day. Just a thought.

today were 181, 170, 156, 166, 168, and 186. I felt low at 156, but 166

felt ok. I didn't even hit 190 today. How long do you think it will be

until I have normal readings? <<<

I really don't like the Metformin, because I end up spending so much

time in the bathroom. Will it get worse if he increases the dose?

Kathleen,

I never got friendly with metformin, and yes, it got worse the higher the

dose. YMMV. I got off the stuff and really cracked down on the carbs and am now

having great luck with Byetta and Lantus. There are lots of options if the

metformin isn't working for you.

You're doing great!

Kathleen,

That's not unlikely, so you probably should stay at the lower dose until the

symptoms subside as they do for most folks. Then go for an increase. Do know

that some people just never get over the " bathroom " problem & have to quit

Metformin, but that's the exception I believe because there are many people

using it successfully.
