Guest guest
Georgia, No fun for you, but what a good story you tell. For me it's always "therapeutic" to hear of tactics to get results like you did. If Marie is the Doberman of the Crew Kennel Club, you are the bulldog! And like someone else said, I'd like to sic you on a few people myself! Barbara B. It's amazing what you can do if you really set your mind to it. I had my MRIs a couple of weeks ago and the results were supposed to be rung through to me. Nothing followed by nothing followed by nothing. I rang the neuro's receptionist today and told her I was getting mightily ticked off, and she said yes, she had given 'them' a serve and the results should be with her tomorrow and she would get the neuro to ring me. Well after this I fumed for a bit then rang the hospital where I had the MRIs done. Nope, said the woman I spoke to, we don't have your reports here. I will chase them and get back to you. (I had the MRIs done at the public hospital as a private patient because it was for the nf2 study funded by the US army.) She did ring back, about half an hour later. It seems that the films had been taken from the public hospital to the private rooms next door without being signed out and without getting permission. Naturally I was just a touch annoyed. So I rang the private rooms and spoke to the guard dog who said that the radiologist was doing the reports now and they would be couriered to the neuro this evening. No good to me, I said, I won't be home tomorrow to get the results from him and why wasn't everything ready two weeks ago? I spoke to another guard dog higher up the food chain who must have gathered that I was not in the best of moods. I am quite happy to wait on line, taking up your phone line, until she has done the reports and can read them to me. No, medico-legal constraints mean that she can't give me the results over the phone. Well, I said, (the radiologist was well scared of this mad woman who was ranting over the phone and was too chicken to talk to me) I will cancel my plans for the morning and be on your doorstep first thing in the morning telling everyone, very loudly, what I think. I will ring you back, said guard dog. She did too. Very apologetic she was, telling me that the films and reports for the spinal and brainal (like the new word?) would be sent to my home by courier this evening. Terribly sorry she said. Maybe the fact that I mentioned the talk-back radio show tomorrow morning might have had something to do with it. Consequently the courier arrived, as promised, with scans and reports. The upshot is that nothing seems to have changed a great deal. Now why couldn't the radiologist have just got on the phone and said, I can't tell you much over the phone but I really don't think there is anything to worry about. Georgia the Argumentative. P.S. All this actually had me in tears. I needed some chocolate afterwards.
