Guest guest
Hello all. I am chelating my 10 yr son, he has ADHD. We use ALA, 10 mg, 3hr. dosing, 3 on, 4 off (sometimes 11 off). He also takes supplements according to Andy's protocol. In May, we put him on the Feingold diet and had a few improvements within 6 weeks. Now 4 months later, we still have the nail chewing, occasional pinging off the walls, figeting in chair, rocking side to side, easily distracted. His diet is 100% FG legal. I think his supplements must be the culprit. I would like to stop all supplements to see if there are ingredients that are bothering him and then add them back one at a time. My question is should I stop all supplements at once, or gradually? Also if anyone on this list can help with ingredients, there are a lot. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
This may not be exactly what youre asking for, but there is a good book out there called " ALLERGIES and Holostic Healing " by Skye Weintraub, ND. There may be something in that if you happen to see it at your local health store ~Inga ______________ on 9/25/04 6:41 AM, tinalunabean at lolabryn@... wrote: Hello all. Guest guest
Sorry to be so long answering this post but I hope it will still be helpful. We are doing a similar program without Feingold and I also have a 10 yo with very mild ASD. We started Andy's protocol in May slowly adding supplements and then adding ALA in June. It all reached a critical mass just about the time school started so I just stopped it all. The next week he was no better, the next some better and then the next he was the best he has ever been. THEN, some of his previous symptoms started coming back. I figure it must have taken his system three weeks to get rid of whatever was bothering him but everyone says that it should only take a few days for him to react one way or another. I'm not really sure what to think about it. Anyway, I am going to try to continue with minimal supplements and see what happens. Let us know what happens with your son. H. Guest guest
My best guess it to keep chelating and eventually he will be less sensitive. I say this based only on my personally situation so far. My 4 year old is on 15 mg ALA (Andy's protocol) and even with certain set backs (there are three of us chelating in the house and we have all had our own personal symptoms) the net-net so far is positive. My 4 year old who was probably only ADD at the point where I started chelating, is doing tasks when asked, asking all kinds of questions, has taken his own training wheels off his bike (still need some more coordination and attention ride the bike, but wants to), going to the bathroom on his own, and biggest of them all .... not laying around on the floor anymore (which used to drive me crazy). Also, school is going GREAT .... where as two years ago, they couldn't deal with him. Last year he was in a special school and by the end of the year, he knew he was in a special school (he did get kicked out for having too much speech etc. all of a sudden .... I credit Feingold and Andy Cutler, both in part for this success). With these mere 7 rounds of chelation, my son HAS become less sensitive to salicylates (sp). He can eat berries and grapes (occasionally) and tolerates tomatoes and ketchup again. I can tell when he has too much by a red nose. I know that certain of his supplements are not Feingold legal (he was very much helped by the Feingold diet), but he can now tolerate them much more to a limit. With more and more chelation, I think that he will tolerate them even better. Maureen
