Guest guest
Kathleen, Your diabetes is with you all the time, wherever you are, so IMHO, your meter should be there too. I always carry my meter & now that I'm taking Glyburide I have Glucose tabs or lifesavers with me at all times. I leave some G-tabs in the car, in the kitchen & the bedroom. I have 2 meters & when I was working, I left one at work to minimize the fuss of carrying one there every day. Now, the 2nd meter is just a backup like when I introduced my meter to the concrete kitchen floor a while back (many small pieces). The manufacturer sent me a new one in a couple days, but in the meantime, my backup was put into service. Meters are cheap & in most cases, you can find a way to get one free, so having a 2nd one is not a bad idea. I wouldn't leave my meter or particularly the strips in the car all the time as they are sensitive to temperature extremes. BTW, I'm using test strips that are 2 years past their expiration date & they test perfectly against my Dr's lab & the test solution. But then they have always been stored in a moderate temperature low-humidity location. ***************************************** , T2, dx'ed 4/98 with Fasting bg 350mg/dl & HbA1c 15.5% Controlling until last month with LC-D & very little E Average Fasting bg 105mg/dl, Last HbA1c 6.0% 7+ Year Historical HbA1c 5.6%-6.0% Now Experimenting with Metformin, Glyburide & " Merlot Therapy " for HbA1c nearer 5.0% >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>> This is starting to sound like I need to carry my monitor with me when I leave home. Between that and my inhaler, I might need a bigger purse. Kathleen <<<
