Guest guest
my 3.10 year old's (34 pounds) urine toxic metal test (from DDI) just came. His lead was very high. Mercury and Nickel was high too. Lead 94 ug/g (Normal Range <20) Mercury 7.4 ug/g (Normal Range <5) Lead 52 ug/g (Normal Range <20) Creatinine 8.4mg/dL was Low (Normal Range 21-76) Everything else came normal. It was an 8 hour provoked Urine collection (ICP-MS method) Someone please tell me what this means. Thanks in advance. Manny

Very little. DMSA greatly increases lead excretion. Typically by a factor of 12 or more. Thus yoru 94 may be more like an unprovoked 7 or 8, very normal. Similarly for nickel (which I presume is the second thing you mark as " lead " ). I would check the hair test (doctor's data hair element profile) and think carefully about his situation, as well as considering a behavioral optometric vision exam (lead and mercury do different things to vision) and considering testing your water.
