Guest guest
As many of you know, about two weeks ago I tested my sugar after talking to a friend and it was a fasting measure of 349. I immediately hit the panic button in my brain, but after reading some articles, I hit a no/low carb high lean protein diet. After 4 days, the readings went to 314. Then two days after that, 306. After talking to many of you on this board, I decided that I needed to see a DR. ASAP. I had an appt with a dr. scheduled for 11/18, but he couldn't see me sooner--so I went to the ER yesterday. Yesterday was 16 days after my initial BG test of 349--yesterday, my fasting BG was 129! Still high, but SOOO much better... I still have to follow up with a GP, which they referred me to one-- for some bloodwork--my AC1 and glucose tolerance. (I'm extremely needle-phobic so I'm fearing that one a bit). But hopefully, if I can stay motivated and stay on track, I can beat this back into submission. So, thanks for all the informative posts and support. The Dr. says that with diet and excercise, she thinks that I can control this-- perhaps first with low dose oral medication, then eventually nothing at all. Still high, but SOOO much better... > Hi Now that you've come down from the panic stage - congratulations on that improvement - it's time to get serious. Obviously, that first test wasn't a mistake. I strongly recommend that you read the advice on this link and put it into practice: http://www.alt-support-diabetes.org/NewlyDiagnosed.htm And find a way to add a minimum of a half hour of moderate exercise to your day.
