Guest guest
, Neurontin got FDA approval for post herpetic neuralgia on May 28, 2002. I understand there's lots of crap that the makers of neurontin did in the beginning to sell their drug - I read some of the websites, quite a few actually - but still the fact remains that the drug does work, and work well for neuropatic pain, as well as for seizures.... at least as far as I can attest to first hand after 3.5 years - I went to the FDA website to see what other approvals it had been registered for, but I don't have adobe reader on my computer - I did note that on October 12, 2000 they have a 'new or modified indication' listed. and on August 15, 2002 "efficacy suppliment with clinical data to support" - so one of those may be for other neuropathic pains as well. Bottom line is that if Neurontin was only marketed at this point for seizures, there are only 2 million epilepsy patients in the USA - why would there be other companies now wanting to market the same drug as a generic - 2 million people, isn't much of a market - when there are so many other drugs already on the market place. AND if it really didn't have a future, it really would have 'burned itself' out by now... and so would all of the prescriptions - it's a very expensive drug - people aren't going to keep paying for something that might hurt them if it isn't working for them - people are smart enough to weigh the pros and the cons.... I sure did, I read plenty about it before, and during the time I've been taking it. I would like to know what your personal view is on the drug and why you feel about it how you do.... I don't want to read web sites about it - I want to hear about what you feel about it so I can learn from you. I've told you how I feel about it and why I feel that way. Maybe you can help me understand why you personally feel the way you do about it - other than just from what you saw on the tv commercial about the lawsuit. The only time that I have ever been anywhere on the same page as suicide was when I spent the two months OFF neurontin, [and I titrated off the drug properly], or was on an anti-depressant - which I guess we've found after 3 very brief attempts that, I cannot take them. Hope to talk to you soon, FayeANewPlanForYou@... wrote: Dear Friends in Pain, Zoloft and Neurontin (gapentin) are under serious fire. Some results below. Neurontin is only FDA approved for "seizures" going off it cold can cause rebound seizures, not to mention other damage. It has been an easy out for physicians who are opioidphobic to prescribe...
