Hi Barb,

Just read your previous e-mail about your cutting Glipizide as I am the

Glyburide.

Sounds like you're doing great on it so....

Why does the Endo want you to stop taking Glipizide? I'd bet you're one of

his best controlled diabetic patients, if not " the best " ! So why change?

In my reading, the only negative about Glipizide was that it " can " cause

hypos, just like Glyburide. Since you have that problem licked, why mess with

what's working? But then , maybe I missed something.

Unless he has some pretty compelling evidence of something negative about

the drug, I'd stick to my guns about using it, but then that's just me! It's

proven itself for a long time, it's cheap & it works!

Or maybe it's that some drug salesman has convinced him to " try " their new

wonderful (spell that expensive) drug on his patients & he gets a Caribbean

vacation if he meets a quota of new patients using it!!! Oops, cynicism creeping

up-Need more coffee!

>>> Thanks Sue - I go to the endo next week and he told me last visit he

wanted me off Glipizide. So I am gathering information so I can make an

informed decision when discussing different meds. I have also gathered

info on different insulins and some of the newer meds. I cannot take

Metformin because I already have digestive problems. So we shall see

what happens.
