I have *much* more luck finding a unsensitive area in my waist fat area. But belly or waist, I've only felt a couple of REALLY " stingy " shots when using insulin. Considering what poor diabetic control can lead to, I'd put up with stings every shot rather than complications of continued high BG's. sky

Was just wondering if anyone else out there experienced the same kind of more intense sensitivity on one side or the other. Nora
Guest guest
Nora, During your surgery a nerve or nerves could've been nicked, causing the numbness. Having most of my thyroid removed last October left the left side of my neck and chin numb, but I still have feeling around the site of the incision itself. ~a In a message dated 1/9/2006 9:39:11 PM US Eastern Standard Time, arnora@... writes: Thanks for the suggestion, Sandy. Yes, I had a hernia on that side (lower abdomen) but the ultra sensitivity is everywhere other than at the point of incision, which is still numb. Sensitivity also includes the right hip. Not a problem. I was just curious if anyone else experienced this on one side of their body. Apparently not. ;o) Nora
Guest guest
Nora, Did you say you had surgery on one side? (I could be remembering your original post wrong) but if so, you probably have an increased sensitivity in the area of the scar tissue. This is quite common after surgeries. If not, then I apologize for remember wrong. Sometimes rubbing the area with emu oil or a Dr recommended cream on scar tissue will eventually desensitize it. (I'm just getting this from all the medical transcription I do) Sandy Re: Painless shots but not on the right side... That's not even an issue... Perhaps, however, my comment will be helpful for someone whose issue is finding a comfortable place to stick a needle. sky I do not intend to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death http://www.skydancers.com http://www.skydor.com
Guest guest
> Sometimes rubbing the area with emu oil I vote for that. Then Nora could raise emus instead of cows and horses . Guest guest
Hi Nora, I do have a problem injecting on one side versus the other. Lately my left side seems to have more problems with blood coming out so I avoid it. Kind of frustrating as I feel I only have the right side/stomach area to use without a problem. There are a few places on the left I don't have a problem with but for the most part I avoid those spots. It's definitely not like pictures they show of where to inject and you think you have all these spots. I don't. > > I was just curious if anyone else experienced this on one side > of their body. Guest guest
I have always thought it strange that when something happens to me, it's usually on my left side. My migraines are always on the left side. Recently I've had hip pain, only on my left side. I am right-handed. Sue > Aha! Another one! Guest guest
Yep, me too. I'm right handed -- and I have arthritis in my left thumb base. Makes it hard to do hand quilting, sigh.
