Guest guest
Hi a, Cabbage can't do that - the smell alone - yuck!, nor does aspragas taste good to me. I like zuccini and squash but can't get those this time of year here - plan on planting a garden this year so I can grow all my own favorites! I honestly have not tried artichokes or brussel sprouts nor have I tried collard greens (but I eat smoked turkey every day for lunch!) I'll email you off list - would love some preparation ideas for these that I haven't tried. Thanks! Sandy Re: Yes, Discusses Carbs-Sandy: was- Dr. Bernstiens Diabetes S... Hi Sandy, Do you like cabbage? Asparagas? Zucchini? Yellow summer squash? Artichoike? Brussels sprouts with bacon and pine nuts? Collard greens with smoked turkey? I find that a little bit of lemon juice squeezed on food makes just about anything taste **delicious**. It adds a whole new flavour to many things (try it on any kind of greens) and I find that it enables me to eat some stuff that I normally wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole lol (cabbage, anyone???). I like lemon so much that I even cook with it-I brown half an onion in a small pot, throw in some meat-doesn't have to be alot-squeeze in the juice of half a lemon and some salt and pepper, add a bit of water to cover, and cook til the meat is soft. You can then add vegetables or pour this " broth " over noodles, rye bread, or whatever it is that you can eat. You can add whatever spices or herbs that you can eat, to give it different flavours, and garlic is always good, in addition to being healthy. The possibilities are endless. And just think of all the vitamins and other health benefits you are getting with fresh lemon, onions, garlic, and vegetables! Plus the broth is very filling and makes you feel like you have just had a real good stick-to-your-ribs meal. It's very satisfying, and I would think it might even help in weight loss, if needed. Give it a try and let us know what you think. I bet you'll like it. Caroline
