Guest guest
I briefly saw someone talking about the benefits of coconut oil and lowering BS. I'm wondering if this has been discussed on this forum as far as if it really is good or not? I actually bought quite a supply of coconut oil about a year ago when I was reading how good it was to consume - and still have alot of it (I believe it stays good for a very long time. I found a link below stating that it has been found to help BS readings. However, I also see some reports that I couldn't access (or find) - only the link on google, that were on actual diabetes websites that said coconut oil was bad for diabetes - BUT these were probably old reports when coconut oil was thought to be a " bad " oil? I think the newest research says it is a good oil. Anyone? I started using it when I read that saturated fats, unlike all of the media hype, did NOT cause high cholesterol. For me it does. My cholesterol went way up and I stopped using coconut oil. I'm among about 20% of folks who are sensitive to saturated fats. I've never heard of it being used to lower blood glucose, however. Since I was diagnosed with diabetes during the time I was using coconut oil it sure didn't seem to help me. -=sky=- Type 2 dx'd 9/04/04. -LC, Metaformin XR, Humalog. - HTZ, Lipitor, Cozaar, Topcol, Norvasc, Armour Thyroid. - B12, Folic Acid, biotin, chromium P, CoQ10, Omega 3, L-Arginine, D, & misc. others. In theory, if you're doing low-carb the fats shouldn't raise cholesterol. As mentioned, it did with me but I seem to be one of the few exceptions. It wasin the 300's. Not good at all. I am now using a low dose of Lipitor and my numbers are good. sky
