Guest guest
hey everyone i wanted to list the supplements my ASD daughter is taking and get some opinions on if I am giving her enough or too much. She is 22 lbs and 23 months old. Cod Liver Oil- 2500 IU per day Nu thera w/p5p - 2 Caplets per day Calcium w/Vitamin D- 999 mg of Calcium 174 IU Vitamin D A day Zinc- 40 mg a day (Very low on hair test) Grapefruit seed extract- 250 mg a day Multi Enzyme Formula- 1 Capsule with each meal Acidopholus- 1/2 teaspoon daily I am going to be starting ALA pretty soon and know that I will need to adjust her supplements. I saw in the index that andy recommends 25000 IU cod liver oil. I dont know if i read that wrong or if i am really giving way under what is supposed to be given. Also was thinking that she may need my magnesium she gets 100mg A day with the Nu Thera. Her mag levels were fine on the hair test but I understand she needs mag for her body to absorb the calcium. Is this enough??? Also she is still doing the teeth grinding and tongue pulling. I upped her zinc to 40 mg a day and havent seen any positive results. Should I go up more. She registered really low for zinc on the hair test, but her copper levels were good. Also I was reading about using ALA when you have high sulfur. My daughter registered high in sulfur on the hair test. I beleive she is getting it from the garlic she eats on her food, which is the only way i can get her to eat. Will i need to stop the garlic while using the ALA??? Ok last question. She registered barely over on lead and I will probably have to use DMSA to chelate for the lead. Where do I get a good form of DMSA without a prescription??? Thanks rochelle _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement? Guest guest
Liz, May i just ask - could you elaborate on your pathways needing support? I'd be poarticulalry interested in how you found this out as well as how you resolved it. Guest guest
10-4 on the yeast. We don't rule that out. Figure this out...today, we finished the round this morning and all supplements were the same as we've done every day with the exception of probiotics and digestive enzymes which were left out on purpose. The redness or red rash is completely gone. He has had minimal hyperness, and his stimming (finger-snapping and point-blank finger staring) was greatly reduced too, but as always not gone entirely. What that means is he got gluten and casein without enzymes and did better. Maybe he just isn't tolerating the enzymes or we are past the digestive enzymes requirement? The latter would be great! We have considered the thought that it might be either chelator ALA or DMSA causing some sort of sustained-use allergy, but that doesn't make sense because the redness seems to stick around long after the round has ended. Taking the probiotics and the enzymes out seems to have improved pretty rapidly. > > > > Ona tip we ordered Life Extension 6 hour time release Melatonin. > Each > > capsule is 3mg. Currently we are using Kirkman's Pro Culture Gold and Multi-Flora Spectrum rotating them with Kirkman's Acidolphilus, and Jarrow Jarro- dophilus every two weeks at a total level of one hundred billion spaced out through the day. Guest guest
Do the Kirkman's still have sorbitol and/or inulin? Yeast feeders for . You might try Custom Probiotics. No connection with him. As a matter of fact, the guy there hates me and I am afraid to order from him anymore. Long story.... was using aout 250b a day(Kirkmans), but his yeast was still raging. He had no good bacteria and a potentially pathogenic bacteria had moved in that needed to be under control. Good luck. > > . > > > > What is the probiotic that you use? > > > > > We have used a lot of different brands rotating every two weeks. > > Currently we are using Kirkman's Pro Culture Gold and Multi-Flora > Spectrum rotating them with Kirkman's Acidolphilus, and Jarrow Jarro- > dophilus every two weeks at a total level of one hundred billion > spaced out through the day. Is it ok to break open a > capsule for oral consumption or will this compromise the time- release > effectiveness? -- I think you might get away with it. The way a capsule dissolves, all the contents are released almost at once, so the time-release properties must be related to the contents of the capsule, not the cap itself. a tablet could be different as it would disolve more slowly. >We want to use the time-release because he has been > waking at odd hours of the night then only getting a catnap before he > goes to kindergarten in the morning. -- the melatonin may not help this if it it yeast-related > We have forty rounds of ALA/DMSA completed in the AM. > > We are seeing some facial redness or perhaps allergic-driven rashes > and lately have been seeing behavior regressions while on round. > Behavior regressions are mostly hyperactivity and stimming. This depletion can least to hyperacctiity and yeast problems. Load pantethine and biotin before and after rounds and maybe between doses. Guest guest
Steve, We will keep those two in mind, but for now we will see how well he does without probos and enzymes for a while. If we keep those two out and the redness rash comes back on the next chelation round we will take a hard look at biotin and pantethine. Guest guest
I think they do contain sorbitol. He had ice cream last evening and later slept like a babbb...youngster all night. He hopped up in bed, looked at his fingers like he was about to start stimming then calmly put his hand down and fell right asleep. Guest guest
He did very well without probiotics and digestive enzymes yesterday. His redness went away and there was some stimming, but the hyperness wasn't there any more than NT. We'll see how well he fares today.
