Guest guest
January 27, 2005 Dear Dr. , A friend who also has low thyroid brought the enclosed articles regarding low thyroid and the relation to cardiac death, especially in untreated and undertreated hypothyroid women to my attention. This concerns me greatly. From reading your book I know that you are in favor of treating symptoms, although I noticed after leaving your office that the test for free T3 was left out of the panel. In light of my C-reactive protein lab result of 11(eleven) against the reference range of 0-3, showing HIGH risk for cardiac disease/an event, I feel that free T3 need to be tested without delay. Enclosed is also an abstract regarding the suppression of thyroid peroxidases (one of the lab values you went over with me) by selenium. Between Thanksgiving and up until days after the lab tests I was eating quite a lot (1-2 cups) of Brazil Nuts all day, each and every day. Since I have EBV (like a very high percentage of Americans, as you pointed out), which, like other members of the HHV family has been correlated to MS, it could also be implicated in the pancreas disregulation and the low thyroid, too. What forms of antivirals do you think would help address this? As you so well explain in your book, thyroid is key to the digestion/utilization of food as well as the supplements I bought from you. I was also really happy that you are also well informed about the 4-antibiotics-in-one-day-therapy for Helicobacter pylori which can be the cause of my cea and severe heartburn. I'm glad you understand my concern that Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) can play a role in exacerbating, if not causing, many of my many symptoms, as well. Thank you for offering to order that test with the next labs that you order for me. I am looking forward to working with you to turn my health around because my husband and I need to be healthy to raise our amazing daughter! Sincerely, Mateosian
