We tried alot of supplement and medications, most seemed to work for

a few days than a lot of hyperactivity would eliminated that choice.

Straterra worked amazingly for 2 weeks but the side effects after

that time were terrible...my son is 6 in 1 st grade with an assistant.

We started a program called play attention which is a NASA based

technolgy for training focus/attention my son has been on this at

school for 3 weeks and it really seems to be work great and of course

is drug free, play attention has a web site, hope this helps Gordon

Yes! Essential fatty acids (omega-3, -6, & -9 & DHA) in a product called

Think EFA by Spectrum

http://www.spectrumorganics.com/index.php

We have a 6 yo w/Asperger's & ADHD, we were told by his teacher that he's

had less focus, that's because the Think EFA ran out! Got to go get some

more!

I also highly recommend the book " The ADD Nutrition Solution " by Marcia

Zimmerman.

Nordic Naturals fish oil. They have chewable children's capsules that

taste great. I have to hide them. Kristy

We can second Attentive Child by Souce Naturals. One of the

" hit or miss " best-guess things we found a couple of years ago.

The ingredients lists:

Magnesium aspartate 109mg

Zinc picolinate 2mg

L-aspartate (from Mg aspartate) 310mg

DMAE bitartrate 100mg

Soybean Lecithin 50mg

40% Phosphatidylserine 20mg

Phosphatidylcholine 6mg

Phosphatidylethanolamine 3.5mg

Phosphatidylinositol 1.5mg

DHA 15mg

Grape Seed Extract 15mg

Other ingredients areCrystalline fructose, xylitol, stearic acid, natural peach

flavor

citric acid, natural orange flavor, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon

dioxide, and

natural chocolate and cherry flavors.

As I type I keep muttering " ooooops " because I can see that there are things

listed

that could be problematic...

Now, I'm wondering if the " good " ingredients can be found in a safer but equally

palateable form? hmmm...

oh, yes, two steps forward, three steps back.

DHA and EPA fatty acids.

And any amino acids and its cofactors that suppor the sulfer pathway.

If the attention span difficulties are due to spaciness, look into things

that raise serotonin levels like carbos, turkey and P5P. If there is more

impulsivity problems or scattered thinking, look into things that work with

dopamine

like high protein snacks and GABA. Another neurotranmitter that affects

focus is acetylcholine, which DMAE raises. If I recall correctly, this works

more

on memory, ability to retrieve info and concentrate, which in turn helps

focus and attention in people with low choline levels.
