Guest guest
Hi, I've decided not to go through with the pre amalgam removal DMSA challenge test. I am interested in doing some testing though and understand that a lot of folks here do the DDI hair element test. Is this test *enough* to give a clear indication as to whether one is mercury poisoned? How accurate is it? Should I also do a urine porphyrin test, CBC or other blood test as well? I've read Moria's page on the DDI hair test and will try to get the ND I'm seeing Weds. to request the test for me. He doesn't know about Andy's work so probably won't be giving me a referral to my dentist for amalgam removal based on the hair test, but I want to play it safe even though my insurance won't cover any of the work without a referral. Sigh. Thanks for any input on the testing :-) Suze
Guest guest
Apply the counting rules. Make sure you go to a mercury-free dentist who uses proper protocol. Any dentist who still places mercury fillings won't properly remove them because they don't " get it " . Better to pay out of pocket (I had to max out my credit card, borrow, etc) than get insuracne to cover someone who does it wrong and makes things worse. Sigh. Work on the ND. He might be able to figure it out, or might be convinced that maybe he should act like a doctor and make a diagnosis on a clinical basis. He might also explain his situation and what he needs. Better yet, if he won't do what you want, maybe he knows someone who will! > Thanks for any input on the testing :-) > Suze
Guest guest
> > Apply the counting rules. Hi , But with which tests should I apply the counting rules? Just the DDI hair element test? I guess I will have to review the counting rules again - maybe I am missing something. >> Make sure you go to a mercury-free dentist who uses proper protocol. I interviewed him about his protocol and feel comfortable with it. The ONLY thing he doesn't do that another dentist in this area does is the electric potential readings a la Hal Huggins. Guest guest
Hi Andy, Thanks for your feedback :-) > > >Should I also do a urine > > porphyrin test, CBC or other blood test as well? > > Depends on your situation, what you want to know, what you might do > about it. I just want to know if I'm mercury poisoned and wasn't sure if the hair element test would be enough to determine that. I guess I will start with that test and go from there. > > > I've read Moria's page on the DDI hair test and will try to get the > > ND I'm seeing Weds. to request the test for me. In fact, I'm going to bring your book and explain why I'm not comfortable doing the DMSA challenge and why the DDI hair element test may be a better guage, to the best of my ability. I will recommend he get the book. I'd asked him on the phone if he was familiar with it and he wasn't. He's only been in practice for about 5 months, but seems willing to listen to new information. If he won't help me get the DDI test, my regular ND whom I consult with by phone from another state, will, I'm sure. Thanks again for your input!
