I invariably want to see a CBC with differential, plasma cysteine,

plasma sulfate (cys and sulfate available from Great Smokies only),

serum uric acid, and a hair test, preferably DDI hair element profile

(be careful, there are 2 hair tests and you want to be sure it is not

the hair toxic element exposure profile), and very often hemoglobin A1c

and the thyroid measurements free T3, free T4, T3, T4 and TSH. All are

necessary, many doctors don't understand that. There are many many

other things that depend on what is going on.

recipe from some other doctor.

Most DAN! doctors wildly overtest.

If you have insurance, the plasma cysteine and sulfate and hair test

won't be covered, the rest ought to be if the doc puts down some

Thanks for responding, Andy. Regarding the price

quotes. I found Doctor's Data at $79 and Great

Smokies at $48. It's a small difference but I figured

that if the labs were just as reputable I'd save a few

bucks. I'll opt for Doctor's Data just to be sure:)

Is Dr Usman asking you to have these tests done before your February

visit? The reason I ask is that we are going on Wednesday to see

her and I don't recall any tests needing completion prior to the

first visit.

Nope. I just figure that if I have some basic tests

done that I'll get the most out of the visit. Just

trying to save out of pocket expenses. I figure that

if we had something done that we would have somewhere

to start immediately. I asked the receptionist if

there are any initial battery of " routine " tests and

they said there wasn't and that she'd order them upon

the visit.
