Guest guest
My daughter is excreting high levels of antimony which I understand can be attributed to mattresses. We stopped using flame resistant pjs a year ago. Does anyone know if the antimony in mattresses can come through the mattress pad and sheets or is it contained in the mattress? Is there anything I can do to prevent her from being exposed to it, short of buying an organic mattress? Are there any other sources that I should be aware of to decrease her exposure to antimony? Thank you!
Guest guest
I think sweat or any other liquid can react with the antimony in the matress and change it into gas, which then might be likely; to " leak " . Guest guest
Yes, antimony out-gasses from mattresses. I bought a chemical-free organic cotton futon from Soaring Heart Futons in Seattle. I understand Abundant Earth also makes them. Foregoing the flame retardant requires a health care provider's prescription, which I got from my acupuncturist/NAET practitioner. Without a prescription one can get ones with wool as the flame retardant but remember that there's arsenic in sheep dip, so likely in the wool. Scroll down this page to the antimony section. You can purchase a plastic wrap for the mattress http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm Dana
