Guest guest
Well, I hope you all are doing well. We could be doing better, but I won't complain (too much anyway). Our phone was out yesterday (Monday) due to having a new phone line put in so this is a day late. We just got back from the nsg awhile ago. Dr. Crone said he was really shocked at what was happening with Devan. He said in comparing the MRI that Dev had in April and the one last month, he was just absolutely amazed at the difference. He said when one of his patients has a normal MRI that looked as good as Dev's did in April, he usually doesn't even order another one to be done (unless it's for a yearly check-up). Wonderful Chiari is back and from Dr. Crone's own mouth, " it's actually worse now that it was before Devan's first surgery " . He said he has done over 200 surgeries and only 4 other patients have had to have more than one surgery but they were all younger than Devan. He said, " it's patients like Devan that make us really sit back and look at things closer. " He said he felt that it was scare tissue in the " front " that was causing the tonsils to piston and crowd again, so when the surgery is done, he feels like it'll be an easier one because it won't really be muscle that he's having to go through this time, more scar tissue than anything. Everything I told him correlated with the MRI and that was PRIOR to my seeing the films. I told him I was honestly glad that it did because I didn't want to be seeing symptoms from something that just wasn't there. (I said, " you're really going to have to go back in before you know for sure if it's scar tissue or something else though, right? " He said yes but hopefully it won't be a more extensive surgery. It's another posterior fossa decompression. Does all of this sound familiar or right to you guys? I mean, I can really understand that with the MRI in April being normal, Dr. Crone had NO way of knowing this was going to happen. The sad thing is in just 5 months, Dev's worse than ever before. Well, Mommy had her cry at the doctor's office so it's time to toughen up for my little guy. I told him about the surgery and he said, " I just want to get better, Mommy. " So, I've got to be strong for him. I'll break down later. ) Take care and have a good day! Tonia
