Guest guest
I just know about aloe vera, just in case they are not already using it. Once I got caught with wires from an electrical fire in a car and they melted into my leg. Far from help at the time, I daily began scouring out the bits of green and white plastic in a stream with a scotch bright pad, and slathered the leg continually with vitamin E and aloe vera for many days after. There was some infection about a week later but it cleared. What interests me, is that I have had some minor burns on my legs since where I put nothing on them, and they have left scars, yet the awful burns I got from the burning wires left no visible marks. I will never forget this. Don't thnk that was exactly what you were after but I thought it might be worth sharing. ~Inga on 9/26/04 8:33 PM, xodirgkle at xodirgkle@... wrote: My brother was burned by molten aluminum metal about a week ago on 20% of his body. As far as I can tell he is following all the recommended medical treatments but they do not give information or recommendations on supplements. He also got the recommended tetnus shot. I have no idea if the aluminum would have entered his body at the burn sights. He is being treated by a general surgeon not a burn specialist. Burns in general are very hard on the immune system. He does drink the water (I believe it was recommended 1 quart/hour) that he was told to, but that's all the have him do. Any responses are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance! Guest guest
I have read recently, that PABA can help with burns, but have no direct experience with it. I have used manuka honey on burns successfully, but I don't know, whether it would still help after a week. Dagmar. Guest guest
1. Vitamin C 1 gram buffered every hour or two. 2. Some magnesium in the drinking water, about 1-2 tsp epsom salts PER DAY (not per quart!). 3. Arginine or arginine + ornithine 5-10 grams daily at any time if he doesn't have any of the assorted herpes family viruses. If so, skip this. 4. A high protein diet with digestive enzymes, small frequent meals. Check www.lef.org for suggestions on this or on trauma. They are pretty good. There are probably appropriate herbal salves, I don't know what they are. He might check Murrays' book The Healing Power of Herbs, or www.mdconsult.com and check Murray and Pizzorno's book. The Rakel book on complimentary medicine is questinoable and he wants to have you ask on list about anything he finds in it before actually trying it. Andy ./ ./ . . .. Guest guest
My husband used aloe vera on a burn and it triggered an infection. Maybe his burn was deeper than yours. Maybe too, the quality of the gel wasn't quality. But I would only use this gel on a mild burn. Vitamin E is excellent. My husband had very good results using a pure oil. Guest guest
Maybe some help could be found in finding someone that treats his problem with laser. My husbands chiropractor uses it for all kinds of ailments. I read there are many kinds and did find good information on the net in the past on the use of this device healing ulcers. It also can help stimulate the lymph to move which is also can be a problem moving properly when the skin is badly burned. Speeds up healing. I would look for someone medically trained to treat someone like your brother. Sorry I don't have any links. What if the child has ammonia problems, bacteria problems, herpes problems and growth problems and the child is on Valtrex. Can you try the arginine w/ lysine or is the arginine not a good idea. Can you > try the arginine w/ lysine or is the arginine not a good idea. If it is herpes viruses, you use glutamine between meals rather than arginine or ornithine. If the viruses aren't too bad, you can use lysine with the arginine. If ammonia is the problem then you do arginine and ornithine and avoid glutamine. Andy . . . . . . .
