Her father would never go with us. We would get up every Sunday morning and he would not be home. Out fishing or whatever it was he did. This disturbed her and affected her, among the other things he did or didn't do. Anyway, my reasons for stopping was the greed for money I felt the church was harboring on people. Seemed they felt we should pay immensely for our faith and to keep them operating. My daughter hit her teens, and all heck broke loose. But she has never stopped asking me why we stopped going to church, that she always wanted to go back. DebbieL
Guest guest
Debbie Your daughter is certainly old enough to go back to chursh on her own now and if not the Catholic church (I am assuming it was Catholic by the money grabbing you felt they engaged in----I am a former Catholic), then any one she decides benefits her. Guest guest
Are there any churches out there who can be trusted? Who are really there to help people understand God and develop faith. It is so disheartening when you put your trust in these " people of God " only to find they are far from being Godlike. Jean

Guest guest
Jean, God does not ask us to put our trust in people, he asks us to put our " Trust In Him " . The church is made up of imperfect people, otherwise they wouldn't let you in the front door! If you are relying on the Church to not let you down, you will be disappointed eventually. If you are trusting in the Lord to not let you down and put your faith in Him, you can't lose... ever. If the people in your old church couldn't be trusted, look for a new one. I admit that I am far from being Godlike, but without Him, I could not handle having a daughter with BPD. There are days when they only thing sustaining me is my Faith. Guest guest
Hi All Our faith is important to our family and our son, who may be BP - he also has a strong faith. That is the best hope I feel we have. I am listening to a book on tape by Ann Graham Lotz, Graham's daughter, about WHY? - Why does God allow suffering? It's extremely encouraging. And, when my son is growing spiritually, he is easier to be around too. I would never want to face this without God. patty > > In a message dated 2/25/2006 12:08:11 PM Eastern Standard Time, > bosoxfan199@... writes: > I find it interesting and wondered if anyone else noticed that their bp's do > not believe in god and have little to no faith. Guest guest
Why does God allow suffering? And I have heard from Born Again Chrisitans that suffering is NOT from God, but from the devil. So DOES God allow suffering?

Guest guest
and if not the Catholic church (I am assuming it was Catholic by the money grabbing you felt they engaged in----I am a former Catholic), then any one she decides benefits her. This is the comment I was offended by. As a Catholic I am justified to let you know that. I work with the public (dental hygientist) and have learned that politics and religion are off bounds. People get their feelings hurt or riled up too easily with these subjects. Respect is called for here.
Guest guest
Jean, I am so sorry to hear you so disheartened about organized religion. Yes there are churches out there that can be trusted. And there are also good christian people out there who truly want to share their faith with you and help you. But I always try and remember that a church is an organization made up of imperfect people just like any other organization. Some good - some bad unfortunately. It sure hurts when they do things " in the name of God " that are VERY " un-God-like " . For your own spiritual well being you are wise to steer clear when you are truly uncomfortable. Look around. Visit different churches of different faiths. I am sure that you will find one where you truly feel at home and can take comfort in. Have faith that God will show you your path, be it organized religion or just strengthening your personal faith. I will be praying for you.
