: Thanks for the reply, it makes sense. It is just so hard

trying to read, understand everything, trial/error with supplements,

etc. I can say that I have submitted my new patient info to Dr.

Usman...and I can't wait until she begins treating . I have

heard from other mom's who go to Dr. Usman that she literally takes

that " second-guessing " away and that she knows what she is doing.

OK, I have to ask this.....how do you know if your child has viral

issues without extensive testing? I am assuming that my son's

issues are predominantly viral, in that he has the same symptoms

that others said their kids had...which they treated with anti-

virals.

And finally, how do you know when to stop treating for viruses? I

am assuming that you don't give anti-virals forever? Dana

mentioned in her website that she treated viruses for 7 months, and

it made all the difference in the world (although she did do other

interventions)...Is there a magic formula as to when you stop using

the anti-virals? When the symptoms go away?

Sorry for the long response......thanks again for replying! Kim

Hi Kim,

I assumed that my son had viral issues after Dr. s info on the

oral polio vaccine which my son rec'd.I can honestly say that monolaurin is

good for everyone as a lifetime supplement, therefore I will always try to

give it to him and us(my husband and I).

I started anti-virals again. It would *appear*, based on what I am

seeing, that I did successfully eliminate one set of viruses during

those first seven months, but now a new set has emerged. It might be

the same virus/es, but my son's symptoms and reactions to the

anti-virals seem like different virus/es this time.

Oh jeez, Dana. What are the differences?

It is difficult to quantify. He is VERY involved with letters,

writing, and reading now. In the past, he would prefer to sit outside

and gather and line up sticks, and pick up dirt and watch it fall.

Now he prefers to sit at the computer and type. He typed out the

entire context of one of our Dr. Seuss books yesterday, from memory.

He also loves to sit with #3 and they take turns reading books [mostly

from memory, altho he has about 100 sight words now].

He is more easily scared now. My husband previously could throw him

onto the bed from maybe four feet away and he would LOVE IT, but now

if he tries that, my son will grab onto him and not let himself be

thrown that far.

He wants to be liked now, whereas before, he really did not care what

anyone else [besides me and daddy] thought of him. He also wants to

do what everyone else is doing. We joined Boy Scouts [Cub Scouts for

my younger kids], and he is excited about participating. It is a

parent participation troop, and they are allowing me to join a group

of younger kids, so my kids will be able to participate without so

much of my personal involvement, I get to stand back and watch.

My earlier anti-viral protocol, for two nights [not consecutive], he

cried horribly just after I put him in bed. It was so mournful that I

took him out of bed and rocked him to sleep both times. Also, he

would have had a major nasty bm sometime during the day before those

nights, and not make it to the toilet. Each of the two mornings after

those nights, he would be markedly better. I guessed the virus/es

" broke " on those nights.

But now, he does this almost every night, a different sort of cry tho,

not as mournful, and I let him come out and sleep on the couch.

Occasional bm issues but not really bad, he always makes it to the

toilet and they are not nearly as nasty as the two previous ones were.

Next morning he is much better again. More language, more social

awareness. He has a great day, exhibits new skills, all the way up to

bedtime when he cries again. But it is a different sort of cry.

Overall it is just very strange, but nice also.
