Guest guest
I had an interesting apt. today. The dr. was running about half an hour behind - but spent a lot of time with me. Overall, it went well. The doctor told me this time that she prefer's synthroid, but is willing to continue treating me with the armour. That she doesn't feel armour is - she didn't use the word stable - she said something about testing not being accurate on it or something. It was a mute point - She asked if I had ever seen an endo. I said no, and didn't believe they were the best to treat it - she said - but that is what they are trained for! but she also said, that if I was set on armour - and she acknowledged that I probably needed something with T3 - that the endos around here would only treat with synthroid - not even cytomel. Basically, she said she would give me up to 120 mg of armour. I am on 90 now. she said I can either start it all at once or build up to it - I said I would take the extra tonight for 2 weeks, then the other extra. She was happy I said that because she doesn't like to jump by 60 mg at a time. She will do bloodwork on feb 14th. She said it probably isn't worth re-testing my anti-bodies. Then, she'll retest bloodwork again on april 4th. she is much less than thrilled with taking me higher than the 150 - or 2 1/2 grains. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it - but for now, I can get another grain with my insurance! That will save me having to buy that much more. She also ordered a thyroid ultrasound _ I had one in 1999 that showed my thryoid was enlarged - she said significantly. She wants to know if that has changed. She also ordered a new ekg to see if I have any changes there - and an ultrasound of my gall bladder, as I've had some pains that could be gall bladder. She said she loves cymbalta! she said it is going to be the new miracle drug for pain. If the increase of the armour, and PT on my neck doesn't help with a lot of my symptoms - oh - and going off of my lipitor (why I'm having bloodwork again on the 4th - that and thyroid), then she'd give that to me. I know that I have separate neck problems than my thyroid, so I don't anticipate all of my aches and pains going away. she did mention that there are a ton of things that could be causing my symptoms besides the thyroid. I agreed, and said that however, first, I would like to treat my thyroid optimally, then rule out that as being the cause. oh! And she said she didn't need any of my paperwork - she's seen it before.... so she wasn't really willing to read it, but I think she knew where I was coming from. She didn't give me a new script yet - she said she'd do that after I got up to the 150 - and didn't have problems. So - I'm not going to be getting an extra stash of armour. I think that is it - I'm sure I'll remember something else after I send this!! Cris
