Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this group, as our 2-year-old son -- Caleb -- was just diagnosed w/ Chiari Malformation. His MRI was last week. Caleb started presenting w/ symptoms as young as 8 months old, with what the doctors believed were drop seizures at that time. A subsequent EEG was normal, though. He falls down quite a lot during flare-ups, has dysphagia, chokes, and cries A LOT. He has a bit of a serious medical history w/ apnea, bradychardia, severe reflux, fundoplication, eosiniphilic gastroenteritis, etc. We will be seeing a pediatric neurosurgeon at our Children's Hospital in KC, but we only have one here. So, I'm sure we'll be seeking other opinions -- just to do our due diligence. Some we've considered are Dr. Harold Rekate in Phoenix at the Barrow Institute, and Dr. Jiminez at the Chiari Clinic in Columbia, MO. Of course, we are very new to all this, and would appreciate any input you might have, specifically w/ young children/toddlers, and feedback on these doctors.
