Guest guest Report post Posted July 4, 2007 My family thought i hated washing my hair. I just didnt like the feeling of water or a brush touching the area behind my jaw and under my ears. *shudder* i still dont like it that much but I wash and brush my own hair now that im an adult and I dont share that fact I dont like that feel with anyone cause I doubt anyone in the non charge and non deafblind community would really understand. I dont fully understand and trying to make my parents understand... once their mind is set that they belive something is true, there is nothing anyone can say to them to make them belive otherwise. Guest guest Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Chantelle, Thanks for your input on the hair brushing issue. I'm always glad to hear from someone that can verbalize how something actually makes them feel. Jeanie
Guest guest Report post Posted July 4, 2007 is much less difficult about hair (washing and brushing) since it has been cut short. She tells me she wants to let it grow again; but then when I have my hair cut, she asks for hers to be done also. I attributed some to being that, when shampooing, we always tip back into the water to keep soap form her eyes. Doing so would put her off balance. Never did understand the combing/brushing though. I thought maybe just because it tangled so badly and pulled when being brushed. Now I have to wonder! Guest guest Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Chantelle, At the conference I will be doing a presentation that covers some of why hair washing can be so bothersome. I would love to use this quote as to what it felt like for you. In fact I'd like to reference this whole strand with permission. Thanks, Kim > > > > > > > My family thought i hated washing my hair.
