Sugar free cookie dough

I found the Sugar free stuff at Wal-Mart, went to grab it, and my fiancee

looked at the label. It may be " sugar " free... but each cookie has over 6 grams

of alcohol sugars, which my Doc told me are almost as bad as real sugar, and

can cause some pretty bad plumbing problems.

Mike - I found mine at Wal-Mart.Just saw chocolate chip there.I think

W found sugar cookie. In my Sunday paper there were coupons for

$1.00 off 2 packages.Hope that helps.

I made them, I they were pretty good seeing we don't get treats

often. The chipc were a little bitter but still good & the cookies were

a bit tougher than I remember but it was worth it.

Good luck!

The thing with sugar alcohols is that they can cause a " laxative

effect " in anyone, WLS or not. I read a post about a poor woman who

discovered SF chocolate candy and ate a whole bag before church. That

was about 60 g of the sugar alcohols. She let out really nasty gas and

pooped her pants in church and was too embarassed to ever want to go

back.

I don't know how one cookie would be or if there is a difference pre

and post op. Pre-op, I would eat one or two of the Murray's SF cookies

with no problems. They came in the flavors like Keeblers (shortbread,

choco covered grahams, and chocolate mint) and were awesome. I haven't

tried them since. There is a woman in our support group that eats them

routinely.

You can also find recipes for splenda flavored deserts. Look at low

carb sites and many will also have lower carb substitutes for the

flour. Many use soy flour, almond flour, or other things. There is

even a low carb " bisquik " substitute that I tried pre-op that is great

for baking.

Well as a newbie (and not having had my surgery yet) and with a terrible,

terrible sweet tooth, I hope the first time I eat sugar I hope I hurt like the

dickens (just for a little while) so I'll get rid of that nasty sweet tooth

besides the pounds

Sugar alcohols don't necessarily make you dump. They cause a " laxative

effect " in many people, WLS or not. This is also dependent on how much

you eat. I don't know if WLS folks are more sensitive or not but I've

read hilarious stories on low carber boards from people who discovered

SF candy and went a little overboard the first time they ate them.

Most of the Stovers, Weight Watchers, Hershey's, and other

brand SF chocolates use the sugar alcohols. As a pre-op, I'd eat a

piece or two without incidence but haven't had any since surgery.

That definitely sounds good and will have my wife look for it when she goes

to Wal-Mart the next time.

I was hoping for the same thing but...like some, I do

not dump when I eat sugar... I really have to watch

and just pray that next time I have some type of sugar

that my pouch will disagree to deter me from making

the same mistake twice.
