Guest guest
First of all let me apologize to all that I owe an email to. I was out of town for the weekend-needed to get away and stop worrying about things and recharge my mind and body. LOL-well atleast my mind, my body had other ideas. I will get back to everyone sometime really soon. I was filling out paperwork on each family member for an appointment with a doctor at a Pain Relief and Rehabilitation Center when I noticed something that I should have noticed weeks ago. Since the accident two months ago, our eight year old daughter has not been the same. I know that something is very wrong, but can't get a doctor to dwelve further. This center came highly recommended and I guess the doctor is very thorough and won't even send you to a specialist in our state, which is great to me. I know I haven't found a specialist (in many different fields) who is educated and really knowledgeable about whatever it is I am seeking more information on. LOL We don't have much to choose from here. Here are my questions! Before the accident, McKenzie (Can you tell I used to live in Portland, OR LOL) was a very easy going, goal orientated, well adjusted child, with a few medical problems-two surgeries to remove juvenile polyps and reoccuring Urinary Tract Infections (18 at last count). Since the accident, she has complained of many things, which in itself isn't normal for her. When she broke her arm she said her pain was at a 5 on a scale of 1-10 and they were able to set it at the hospital without her being put to sleep or even crying. The other two children seem to be bouncing back, with a little lingering pains, nothing to write home about. Kids are normally so resilient. Symptoms: 1. Right after accident, she had no feeling in fingers. 2. Headaches-usually every other day or so, causing her to cry. One was so bad, she couldn't stand to be in a room with lights and was sick to her stomache. This one sounded like a migraine to me. Most are above her eyes. Since accident. 3. Leg pain. Up around bottom of bottom. Others in other areas of legs. Started about a month and half ago. 4. Dizziness-bumping into things. Sometimes difficult to change positions. Feels like she has been twirling around in circles for a lot. This started about three weeks ago. 5. Naseau-since accident 6. neck pain-since accident 7. back pain-mostly in mid back, but also in lower back-since accident. 8. Deep down " tickling in legs " 9. Has complained of difficulty swallowing. " I can't swallow " or it hurts. Not like a sore throat. Usually goes away after a bit and doesn't seem to linger. Started about two weeks ago. During this time it feels like she can't breath. 10. She is sleeping more. 11. Crys very easy and gets upset very easy. 12. Ankle pain-feels like someone is squeezing her ankles, just not at the same time. 13. One day she said her feet were cold. She had on tights and was under a blanket. She couldn't get them warm. This was the same day she first said that she couldn't swallow. 14. Stinging feeling in throat-kinda sounded like she was describing indegestion-acid. Okay that is about the gist of it. I apologize that this is so long, but I feel that you all are so much more educated than many of the doctors and I am looking for guidance, once again. Do you think that she might have Chiari (I just noticed when writing down her symptoms that they match a lot of mine), with symptoms brought on by the accident, which was pretty bad. Should I push for an MRI. I have been pushing, and getting pretty b chy about it, but with no sucess. I am hoping this new doctor listens. Or do you think she suffered a concussion, which was one of my " quick diagnosises " . Do you think this all could be due to whiplash, etc. Any other ideas? I know that something is wrong. I know my children. Now I need guidance on possibilities. I have been counting down the days to this appointment. I am so hoping that he proves to be as good as I was told. We couldn't even take the kids into their pediatrician (who they have had for over six years, because it was an accident and not even our fault). It made me so mad and disappointed in the doctoring profession. What happened to doctors who really cared and wanted to help people feel better. Now it seems controlled by bueracracy (sp?) I am not impressed with supposedly our top hospital ER here, so didn't want to waste my time going back there. Nothing has seemed life threatening or I would have rushed her to the hospital. But I want thoroughness, not just a " quick diagnosis " . Our appointment is tomorrow. Sorry such late posting, but I just noticed this and it raised even more questions. Thanks in advance for any and all help!!!!!!! Love and Laughter, in WV
