Do birth control pills contain the same hormones produced by pregnancy? It

is interesting that my daughter is quite normal while pregnant and seems the

most stable, but after the pregnancy has suffered from post partunm

depression which I believe is also hormonally based. ANd the whole mood swings

of

women in general when it is " that time of the month " . Is there any research

that BPD is connected to hormone levels? That vitamin B12 is also used in

women

who have emotional swings during the menstraul cycle. It helps them to

control the moodiness. I know, as I was one of them who suffered greatly with

depression around my cycle. After taking the B12 for a few weeks it was like

night and day.

One more thought on hormones. I used to attend a rape crisis support group.

One of the women had been given high dose morning after hormones to be sure

she did not get pregnant from the rape. Her hormones were way out of whack

for over a year after this. She gained a lot of weight and had abnormal

periods. Of course, she was traumatized by the rape, but the hormone

disruption was so confusing and difficult. - just another example of how the

mental and physical mix.

I found the comment about birth control very informative. I took birth

control in about 1974 for three months and became highly suicidal and out of

control. The doses were higher then so my doctor just said forget it and I

used other methods. MY dgter can not take birht control, everytime she tries

she goes crazy, her body reacts and ehr emotions go out of control. Then I

was put on HRT about 10 yrs ago and same reaction so perhasp it is important

to put the story together. I know I wanted her on birht control so she

wouldn't have kids and put us in the situation we are in now. After she ahd

my grand she did get ehr tubes ties and I was very releived as I can't

imagine, Jean I can only imagine how ahrd it si for you with your dgter

constantly pregnant and a heart condidtion. I beielve that drug combos can

be lethal and thank God that Kristy's dr saw that and for all of us.

I always thnk it is a good idea ot get off BC pills! They are hard on

your body when you take them all the time. Low estrogen is not a normal

state for a healthy woman.

I read your post and thought, this sounds just like me! I went off

BCPs about a year ago. My estrogen, progesterone and DHEA levels were

all low, but I started supplementing with bioidentical estriol

(the " good " estrogen), progesterone cream and sublingual DHEA. I feel

so much better being off the pill! Getting your hormones back to

normal takes A LOT of work though. I am still experiencing the hair

loss that began when I started taking the BCPs...
