Hi everyone,

I don't know if this is of any help. When I went to Mayo it was considered

out of network, but I had a referral from the neuro, and I guess my primary

-- but I'm not too sure about that. All that I can offer is that HMO of

NJ/PA had a department called " National Medical Excellence Program " . Every

thing at Mayo was a phone call to the nurse in this department, and every

test etc was authorized. Maybe other HMO's have something similar. It

wasn't something that was advertised about, but we somehow fell under it.

hope this helps a little

Peace,

I know NY was working with insurance companies at one time trying to define

different Neurosurgeons across the US that would qualify as Center of

Excellence. I haven't head how that has been going, but hopefully major

insurance companies will consider making Chiari a Center of Excellence need.
