To answer your question, yes, the infection was cleared up when re-peat tests were done on Monday, my white blood count was normal. The amazing thing was on Saturday night (after the white blood count was high) I did have a very sore throat that lasted Saturday night and most of the day Sunday. I believe that the antibiotics cleared up what would have been a very nasty cold. Again thanks for your well wishes, they are appreciated! An infection can definitely put you into pre-term labor, so hopefully things will get better for you once that clears up. Will you be able to get on a computer while you are on bedrest? I hope so as it has been tremendous in helping me stay connected while confined. Most important, just take it easy and try to enjoy being able to relax and be taken care of. When blood was drawn, it came back that my white blood count was high indicating an infection somewhere. I was also placed on several rounds of IV antibiotics. Before I was allowed to go home, my peri ordered the fetal fibronectin (SP?) test which came back negative. So, I am now and for the foreseeable future on strict bedrest at home. I remember trying to hang on to that point, but surprised myself and everyone by going past 34 weeks. I hope you surprise yourself as well! Yes, it's tough (I used to stay in the shower too long according to my dh...but, boy, was it a treat!), and you're right...it will be totally worth every second. I take it they measured your cervix again prior to discharging you from the hospital? Do they think it was just the contractions from the infection that caused the cervix to shorten? I ask because if they stopped them and they were only from that, is it possible to still think full-term then? I pray that you have many more weeks on bedrest That sounds so horrible-hope it comes across as intended. BTW, isn't there a woman named Layci that was on this board, with UD, twins, and hospitalized bedrest that made it until 34 weeks? I did go back to my peri yesterday and again, no change in the length of my cervix but they did see a tiny bit of funneling. Not enough to be alarmed is what the doc said. Thanks again for the reply. I am now 32w 4days, 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. Did they give you any medication to control contractions or have they completely subsided now that there is no infection? Bedrest is challenging but the best thing you can do for the baby currently. I would rather be on bedrest than the mag though!!! If you need to chat or are extremely bored, I am in the same position. Guest guest Posted October 23, 2005 Report Share Posted October 23, 2005 Lyn, Many prayers for quiet days on bedrest and continued good development for your baby! It is great that you're past the 28 week milestone. I've always heard that 28 weeks is a big one, although every additional day is a big plus. Sorry that you had to endure MagS - I had a few days on that and it was miserable. Although bedrest isn't fun, I found that it helped to get some sort of routine, such as moving from the bedroom to the couch in the morning or watching a morning show to get me to 9am. They are little things, but they helped. I also wasn't able to shower for my whole time on bedrest, but " bed baths " worked fine for me - using a pot of warm water and a washrag and towel. If it keeps the baby and uterus stable, it is worth it!! Take care of yourself and try to enjoy a few books while you have to be still! Many positive prayers for you and your baby. She called me Friday evening, sad and woeful, can't understand a system that allows abused kids to be with abusers, whine, whine,e tc. Saturday was incredible for me as she didn't call and that is always good news. sunday I called around 1 pm, she was foggy and aloof so short and sweet, she called later and didn't even remember that she had talked to me Friday and wondering when the 18th is, that is ehr court custody hearing, one would think she would be totally tuned in to that, anyway sounds lke she is using agian, very sad,,,but I can only let go and live my day for today. On a personal note I have a new job, I jsut gave notice here this morning and I am so glad that it will soon be over....
