Let me add my two cents worth. I am not the physical type any longer. My

idea of a get together is a long, leisurely dinner at a nice restaurant by the

water. And for me, it cannot be week ends (these are my busy days---Sat &

Sun in real estate). I could join you all for lunch or dinner somewhere

though if it has to be a week end.

The beach area is only 45 min from Providence if anyone is interested in

just bumming around the ocean area.

Helen & all,

it would have to be weekend for me. Either 15 -16 or 22 -23. Where in RI? I

would probably have to fly. I am definitely for some outdoor activity - besides

eating and talking. I do not bike. Swimming may be nice.

Me (Helen Eby)

We need to set a time and place. It seems that the dates that work for me

work for most others, so let's shoot for July 10 to the end of the month.

Now, we need to get some consensus on several things:

What kind of day should it be? Not sunny/rainy, but Saturday, weekday, etc.

What kind of activity? The RI zoo is very nice, and it's in a nice park.

Actually, that's the only part of RI that I have actually been to! Any other

ideas? Picnic at the park where the zoo is? Do we want to take bicycles and

find a short ride to do? Any other ideas? I mention the bikes because I

think I saw a few mention riding bikes as a nice thing.

How long do we want to spend? An hour at a restaurant? An all day bike

ride/picnic?

Anyway, I live on the north side of Boston, so my knowledge of RI is

limited. If it were in Boston, I'd suggest going out to one of the Boston

Harbor islands for a picnic - you can take the water shuttle to go out

there, have a relaxing time, a beautiful view, and be in a national park you

would be unlikely to visit otherwise.

Well, please respond with some options. Unless someone else wants to do the

organizing, I will compile the choices people have made and try to figure

out the consensus so we can make a decision. Then I will suggest that and

we'll see where it goes.

See you soon, I hope!

Florida for 10 days on vacation and had 854 e-mails on my computer to read

and catch up on. I would like to connect with you too. I work Mon - Fri.

Helen, sounds great! I'm sure Jean could come up with some places. Maybe a

wharfside restaurant. A weekend would work best for me except for July 15-16.

We are going to the Yankee game that sunday. I think going to a zoo or mall

wouldn't work, we'd be distracted as opposed to sitting and spending time

talking. Just my opinion. And yes, it should be sunny!!!!

Hi Helen, looks good, I'm okay for wknds. July 23-23 or 29-30. A friday nite

I couldn't make as I work til 4 and it's a good 6-7 hr. drive. What about a

sat. nite dinner cruise? We have them down here on those river boats, I'm

sure they have them up there. But even a nice wharfside restaurant will be my

choosing.

The Friday dinner get to together will work for me. Only the Saturday won't

work and if you guys decided to hike, I'd drop dead anyway.

I agree with Debbie. Would rather have more time to spend talking with you

all. Someplace quiet and nice. Do you all want to stay in the Providence

area or drive out to the beach area?

Near the water there is so beautiful, again I like the idea of a wharfside

restaurant. Don't plan how long, we just meet and talk and play it by ear.

thinking that most can do weekends and weekdays. Maybe we can do a Friday

dinner in RI and a Saturday Boston Harbor cruise or a hike in the Blue Hills

in the Boston area, and satisfy both things. What do you all think? Then the

folks who can only do weekends or weekdays are both OK, and those who can do

both have two chances to go out and have fun.

Let me know what you think!

I don't know anything about R.I. but it all sounds nice. Those who know should

pick the location and make it not too hard to get to from the airport.
