Guest guest
Trudeau is not the only person who's targeted by the FDA. The book that Inga recently told me to look for called, Left for Dead by Dick Quinn had the same thing happen to him. He was told about taking 3 capsules of Red Cayenne Pepper daily after a failed bypass surgery. He ignored it, until he found that his surgery didn't do him justice, but hindered his abilities even 6 months after surgery. The dr's offereded him 'another bypass' but he refused. He started manufacturing his products (cayenne pepper with other things) to help with heart/various health issues that was also being carried by Swanson until the FDA 'intervened' because of the claims that Cayenne Pepper was 'good' for heart disease. Swanson pulled all the products from their catalog and they were no longer sold unless you bought them directly from Dick Quinn's company. Since a lot of these remedies aren't medical, and are spices, or herbal in nature, they don't require 'expensive drug prescriptions', they can't be patented, and it's illegal for you to say that this does this, or that does that. (scary eh?). The FDA has the resources to go after whomever they chose, and they do so without blinking. They have the money and power to persue it indefinately and will do just that on natural 'remedies' if you openly publicize such claims. After reading Left for Dead, I'm convinced that Dick Quinn did what he had to do to keep himself alive, after dr's promised him a life that would be 'better' after bypass surgery. About the same as we're told that this thyroid drug, or that SSRI drug will make us 'new and improved' and when the failure is there, and the miracle drug doesn't work, then it's somehow our fault. Dick Quinn also touches on the 'impotency issues' that most heart attack victims suffer from after taking statins, blood thinners, bp meds, etc. Amazingly enough he states that even the sexual dysfunction most men experience after heart attacks and bypass surgerys is easily remedied by the Cayenne Pepper dose that he himself took daily. If he had marketed that claim, they'd have gone after him again, which they did on several different types of 'remedy's he marketed. Now, can you see the drug companies screaming because a simple 'spice' that you can buy in any grocery store that will help with erections, when they have such wonder drugs as 'viagra' that cost an arm, a leg, and a couple of kids. lol. Yeah, The FDA sucks in my opinion. They aren't near as wonderful as they are cracked up to be in a many areas, even though they prolly have done some good at some point or another. I think they are to be feared in many cases. 's book was just to reiterate that the FDA stands in the way of a lot of these things being known, because it's not in your best interest to tell what these things are. I think we wasted 30.00 on a book that legally could tell us nothing more than we already know. If it's not patentable, then we're in trouble. The FDA has been both a blessing (in some cases) and a curse (in bed with Big Pharma). Some of this stuff is poppy cock and some is good justice, I suppose. http://quinnell.us/society/consumer/badbusiness.html 9.7.04 - Trudeau, whom the FTC says has appeared or marketed hundreds of infomercials, has signed a consent agreement under which he will pay a $2 million penalty and be banned from appearing in, producing, or disseminating future infomercials that advertise any type of product, service, or program to the public, except for truthful infomercials for books, newsletters, and other informational publications. In addition, he is prohibited from making health claims for any type of product, service, or program in any form of advertising. The current case involved false claims that Coral Calcium Supreme, a dietary supplement purportedly made from Japanese marine coral, provided the same amount of bioavailable calcium as two gallons of milk, could be absorbed into the body faster than ordinary calcium, and could cure cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, lupus, and other illnesses. In a separate infomercial, Trudeau claimed that Biotape, an adhesive strip, provided permanent relief from severe pain, including debilitating back pain, and pain from arthritis, sciatica, and migraines. Guest guest
Do you have his book? ok - so - where do we go for a source to find out what these things can do for us? since the FDA won't allow it? Are there any good books out there that tell us that? I know there are some herb books that supposedly tell us what they do???????????????????? Thanks! Guest guest
We used to be a free society, then I was seeing shades of socialism. Now it's starting to look like communism to me. No longer a free society. What happened to the Constitution of the United States, where it says Freedom of Speech? We shouldn't be free to kill people or trample on others rights, yet our government has got us to where we can't even breathe. I'm beginning to know how those folks in those red countries feel. Guest guest
Then when the heck are they going to remove all those dangerous commercials on TV about decreasing your cortisol in order to lose weight, i.e., Cortislim and others?! This just amazes me. I'm thinking the Conspiracy Theory: If you let people go on taking products that are going to put them at death's door, then they will have to go to doctors and get prescribed $$$ drugs, but if you let them take medicines or natural means to CURE things, then you won't be spending much money in the healthcare system, right? Re: Re: Trudeau > > yes - the infomercial is excellent! he is right on. > problem is - he says there are natural cures that the fda doesn't want you to know about. Implies he tells you in his book. I've not read his book. but when you go to buy it, there is that disclaimer. He apparently doesn't tell the cures. He mentions that the FDA passed a law saying that it is illegal to tell what natural things do for diseases. AND he explains that the FDA has taken upon itself to name problems as diseases, that aren't truly diseases - just to control what can be said. Say that the FDA said that Constipation is now a disease, natural cures for constipation wouldn't be permitted to say they can help with constipation. > Cris
