Guest guest
My doctor also says to avoid anything higher than 3 g sugar, extra for limited occasions for fructose, so I would be able to eat maybe 1/2 a cookie, and at that point it would be better to use the Splenda blends like you recomended. I used them for my Thanksgiving cooking and they were great., no one even noticed. From what I have read, people do seem to have differant requirements for what they are allowed. I am limited to 3 G fat and 3 G sugar, so I have learned to get real creative, and welcome anyone's suggestions on this subject. Donna in VA LAP RNY 9-18-06 315/255/171 Re: Sugar free cookie dough The thing with sugar alcohols is that they can cause a " laxative effect " in anyone, WLS or not. I read a post about a poor woman who discovered SF chocolate candy and ate a whole bag before church. That was about 60 g of the sugar alcohols. She let out really nasty gas and pooped her pants in church and was too embarassed to ever want to go back. I don't know how one cookie would be or if there is a difference pre and post op. Pre-op, I would eat one or two of the Murray's SF cookies with no problems. They came in the flavors like Keeblers (shortbread, choco covered grahams, and chocolate mint) and were awesome. I haven't tried them since. There is a woman in our support group that eats them routinely. You can also find recipes for splenda flavored deserts. Look at low carb sites and many will also have lower carb substitutes for the flour. Many use soy flour, almond flour, or other things. There is even a low carb " bisquik " substitute that I tried pre-op that is great for baking. in MI RNY 12/04/06 345/335/322/145 (It's not moving!!!) > > I found the Sugar free stuff at Wal-Mart, went to grab it, and my fiancee > looked at the label.
