I have been on desiccated thyroid for a year--starting with 30 mg and three weeks ago I upped it to 60 and this week to 90. Thanks to this group. The ringing in my ears has not changed one bit. I am self-medicating since my orthomolecular physician would not up my desiccated thyroid when I asked him despite absolutely no change in my symptoms on 30 mg. Kallie ringing ears Well I have suffered since Sept. with ringing ears.I finally got to see an ENT yesterday.I was told it could be the dessicated thyroid meds{Canada}....I am wondering now if I should switch back to t4 meds.... When I was in the hospital having our children and when I had my thyroid gland removed - the nurses commented on the low temp - but insisted that I must have just had ice water to drink. Five years after having most of my thyroid removed, I was put on 50ug of Synthroid. I felt Ok - but my heart rate and body temp were very low. When I decided to take natural thyroid, I thought 1 grain would be adequate. It was thanks to the chat on this group, that I realized I should try to go higher. Now, I am on 5 grains of nature throid and last week my body temperature finally registered 36.8°C (98.2°F). From the time that I started the natural thyroid, until now, I started to experience many of the hypothyroid symptoms that I previously had not - for example, icthy ears, ringing in the ears, etc. Now, I am not bothered by these things. I think that I was so low for so long that many things that were not vital to my survival just slowed down or quit altogether - now things are waking up - and sometimes things are exacerbated in the process. Does that make sense to anyone?
