Guest guest
I agree with you there, all we have is a Sam's Club and I think that there may be better things at COSCO. Guest guest
Are they precooked or raw meat and do they actually taste good? The last ones I bought at Walmart had gristle in them and were not good at all. If they're good, I'll definitely have to go get some. I'll have to renew my membership soon and was debating on it because there aren't a lot of things that I buy there. I guess I haven't been taking very good notes from your posts. The only things I remember that are worth getting there are the soy crisps, the jerky, and propel. > > $11 or so for 12 indivdually wrapped frozen burgers > Each one has: > 170 calories > 5g of fat > 80mg of cholesterol > 410mg of sodium > 32g protein > > I can't seem to find cream cheese let alone fat free cream cheese at a > Costco. Guest guest
They're pre-cooked. If they taste like the ones from the local pub (and the picture looks like they will) they'll be great. My guess is their a lot like a grilled chicken breast sandwich. I'll have one for lunch today if I can. Either that or tonight/tomorrow. Other things at Costco that I LOVE: 1. Willowbrook Kettle Fried Turkey. Oh my God before you die you have to try this! $3.69/lb 2. Kirkland Organic Vanilla Soy Milk awesome on cereal. Very thin/watery which might sound strange for milk but it's no thinner than no fat cow's milk. Also tastes and mixes well with whey protein shake mix. 3. Low Fat Chicken/Rice Burritos. I think these are 260-280 calories each. I'll admit to eating a couple sometimes with Costco's Mango Salso with peach. Total meal is probably 650 calories which is A LOT but I do that maybe once a week and it's not like I eat much more than 1400-1600 calories the rest of the day. Usually one can do me fine though. I'm not sure of the protein off the top of my head but I do know I check that sort of thing based on calories versus protein and these weren't bad. My daughter loves these and they're better for her than crap my ex makes/feeds her. 4. Red Delicious apples. I'm hooked on these from my youth. I know honeycrisps are the latest craze but red delicious bring me back to my youth. Costco has 10 lb bags for $7.50. I and my daughter both eat one or more a day. We kill a bag in a week easy. 5. Feta Cheese on all my seafood. It stinks up a meal well and adds a bold flavor that fakes me out and makes me think I'm fuller or something. 6. They've got some great grilled chicken strips and pieces although I admit I haven't bought any. Maybe it's because my freezer is too full? I've had samples and they're quite good. 7. Salmon steaks. I almost can't believe how well these cooked up for me. I had raved about some recent $15-$20 salmon meal purchases from restaurants. My 20 minute prepared salmon steaks rivaled these for about a tenth the cost. They're individually wrapped. Awesome! 3lbs fir $14.99. 8. Salmon burger patties. I think these are buried somewhere in the freezer and haven't been tried. I think my daughter is fearful of these still a bit. I'll try to have one of these too this weekend. Depending on it's taste I'll make them for my kids next weekend instead of Boca and as another meal from turkey burgers. $10.99 for 10 patties. 9. I thought they had Mahi Mahi I could bread/prepare with oatmeal but it's only breaded/frozen in a bag. It's 270 calories a piece/serving. That seems like a lot for fish. Higher fat too. 10. Healthy Choice Fudge Bars. Do I really need to write on how my kids and I enjoy these? Maybe I should because I'm usually out of them. At 90 calories it's not even so bad for my kids to have two in one day sometimes. 11. Crystal Light Lemonade. Unfortuantly they only have the one flavor but it's a good price. 12. Crasins I know...high sugar. But it's a cheap indulgence on my cereal in the morning or for a small snack once a week. Cranberries are good for you too. 13. Cheese sticks. Not low fat but cheap. 14. Frozen shrimp. If and when Meijer stops having sales these are for me. 15. Smartpop Popcorn. It would be better if it were Kettle Corn 16. Calcium Citrate Tablets 300 count for $9.49 17. Daily Multi vitamins that I take two of a day in a bottle of 500 for $11.69 18. Fish Oil tablets 400 count for $8.99 (1000mg) 19. Better Fish Oil tablets 300 count for $13.59 (1200mg) 20. Tilapia loins individually wrapped frozen 2.5lbs for $13.79. I haven't tried these. 21. Smoked Salmon $10 a large package. I'm going to buy this and some lowfat cream cheese and eat it with onions, lettuce and tomatoe on a bagel all week sometime. YUM! Why doesn't Costco sell cream cheese? I can't even find full fat cream cheese there. 22. Lipton Diet Green tea. Case of 24 for $9.56. Too much sodium. I've quit drinking it. 23. 10lb bag of frozen chicken breasts for $20. 24. Almost forgot Boca Burgers. My kids actually ASK to have me or them make these! 3.5lbs for $8.99 I don't remember how many that is but I think it's 12. 25. I saw the Special K2O protein water there yesterday. It was $12.99 for a 12 pack. It had something like 50 calories a bottle for 5g of protein each. I just feel like I'm paying too much for the novelty and brand name so I didn't get any. Plus I've heard this stuff tastes nasty. Maybe if I can convince some co-workers to chip in for a portion of this purchase I'll get a pack and taste test it. Guest guest
Thanks for the shopping list. I hadn't thought to look at a lot of this stuff. The seafood really interests me. I'm not quite ready for apples since I keep getting things stuck. I am so tired of that. I love Boca Burgers and hadn't looked for them at Costco but the last time Meijer had them BOGO, I think I bought 12 boxes. Is the turkey at all healthy? Kettle fried doesn't sound like it but it does sound yummy. in MI > > > > > > $11 or so for 12 indivdually wrapped frozen burgers > > > Each one has: > > > 170 calories > > > 5g of fat > > > 80mg of cholesterol > > > 410mg of sodium > > > 32g protein > > > > > > I can't seem to find cream cheese let alone fat free cream cheese > at a > > > Costco. Guest guest
Apples don't get stuck. I've heard they do but I've never experienced it and doubt others that say they have. I've eaten them with the skin since about two months. Nothing. Chew a lot. Follow your doctor's recommendation on these though. Meijer has BOGO on Boca Burgers this week too. NICE. They're about the same price maybe a little cheaper than Costco but Costco only has the Vegan instead of some cool flavors/types like Meijer. Watch the nutrition data though because it changes for the different types. Not much really but still reading is informative. I understand that Kettle FRIED might sound bad. But it's awesome really: 2oz serving (I eat about 6oz easy if I can stop, it's so good) 60 calories ..5g of fat 0g saturated fat 0g trans fat 35mg of Cholesterol 400mg of Sodium (ouch 17% of daily RDA, sucks I know) 1g of total carbs 0g dietary fiber 1g of sugar 12g of protein Wow typing this up it's got almost the same stuff as that protein water from Special K except that you're not as hungry afterwards and you get double the protein. Seriously, if you eat 6oz of this and some broccoli you're taking in maybe 220 calories, 36g of protein and your full to the gills even at a year out. Assuming you can ignore the crazy sodium this is awesome. Guest guest
I take the skin off of the apple, it is uncomfortable for me to eat it with. So I peal mine and cut it up that way. Guest guest
It's in the section that has a lot of pre-cooked meats. This is a multiple pound pressed together blob of turkey. There's ham, chicken and other things in this section. There's other types of turkey too. I'd be interested in hearing about those. This stuff is so good though! I'll try to take a section picture next time I go to costco (maybe today). Guest guest
Thanks for the nutritional info on the turkey. I was initially afraid of the fat content. I'll be headed to Costco and Meijer as soon as I get back to MI. > > > > > > > > > > $11 or so for 12 indivdually wrapped frozen burgers > > > > > Each one has: > > > > > 170 calories > > > > > 5g of fat > > > > > 80mg of cholesterol > > > > > 410mg of sodium > > > > > 32g protein > > > > > > > > > > I can't seem to find cream cheese let alone fat free cream > cheese > > > at a > > > > > Costco. Guest guest
My favorite part is the skin but that is the part I'm afraid of at the moment. Like I said, I've been getting something stuck on a daily basis lately so I'll give it a few weeks before I'm brave enough to try it. > > > > > > > > > > > > $11 or so for 12 indivdually wrapped frozen burgers > > > > > > Each one has: > > > > > > 170 calories > > > > > > 5g of fat > > > > > > 80mg of cholesterol > > > > > > 410mg of sodium > > > > > > 32g protein > > > > > > > > > > > > I can't seem to find cream cheese let alone fat free cream > > cheese > > > > at a > > > > > > Costco. Guest guest
No one food in particular. With the first bite I put in my mouth I tend to swallow a tiny bit before I chew it well and that's what gets stuck. It's been scrambled egg a couple of times, soy sausage once, and turkey another time. All of these things have gone down fine other times so I really think it's a function of chewing and not the particular foods. My problem before the surgery was always with eating way too fast and therefore WAY too much. I was pretty certain that this would cause a problem post op and I try to be careful but old habits die hard. in MI > > > > > > > > > > $11 or so for 12 indivdually wrapped frozen burgers > > > > > Each one has: > > > > > 170 calories > > > > > 5g of fat > > > > > 80mg of cholesterol > > > > > 410mg of sodium > > > > > 32g protein > > > > > > > > > > I can't seem to find cream cheese let alone fat free cream > cheese > > > at a > > > > > Costco.
