Guest guest
They say if you drink lots of water it can help and of course the younger you are, the better your skin will be. I am 36 and my skin is doing pretty good. I am not planning on having any plastics done at this time. Another thing I have heard people say, is that even 3 years post op their skin is still shrinking. Take Care, in CA > > I am 47, 5' 7 " , 258 lbs and just waiting for my insurance clearance to have the gastric bypass surgery. I was wondering if it is possible to not have the sagging skin. Any tips or stories. I know that a lot of people go for the second surgeries to remove the skin. > > > > > --------------------------------- > Access over 1 million songs - Yahoo! Guest guest
I have been told to exercise to help with muscle tone and skin tone. It will help in the long run. I met someone who did just that (went as far as to hired a trainer). She went to see about plastic surgery two years later and the surgeon said she needs minimal work because of the exercise she has done. I talked to a plastic surgeon about this too (I personally would like to avoid any surgery) and he told me that he often sends his patients to exercise before he does surgery....and also agreed that it definitely helps in toning muscle and skin. Hope this helps you. Jackie in CA " Donna @ lovethypup " lovethypup@...> wrote: I am 47, 5' 7 " , 258 lbs and just waiting for my insurance clearance to have the gastric bypass surgery. Guest guest
I think it just depends on the person, genetics, amount of weight loss, age, and etc... Basically, everyone is different. I have a savings account for " just in case " . I am only a little over three months out and can already tell my stomach is going to need help, but otherwise I think I will be fine. I would try to put back a little money every pay check, if this is something really important to you. lisamathis

Guest guest
-I've also heard that is the reason it is so important to eat the protein first and make sure you stick to the 60/40 ration for protein/carbs. I think a certain amount of skin sagging is just going to happen because you are losing weight very rapidily, and with some folks depending on how well there skin retains elasity in time they may do well. Others and depending on the degree of weight loss may need to do surgery or find other coping methods. Me, I have bad thighs that get very saggy at the top, and bat wings from you know where. I'm considering having the surgery done (once I've lost all my weight. My surgery is in 2 weeks and I'm hoping to make a decision about that some time in Aug or Sept, seeing how it goes. I'm also crazy enough to hope by then to have lost 80 pounds. Am I crazy for hoping this?
Guest guest
At 12/26/2006 09:24 PM, you wrote: >Exercise and weight lifting Now that is a myth. Exercise and weight training will only tighten the underlying muscle tissue and may make the skin appear tighter but it will not tighten the skin itself. One reason why it may appear tighter is the filling of formerly fatty areas with muscle tissue. You essential bulk up. What determines your sagging has too many factors and no doctor can predict the outcome. Some factors are: -collagen in the skin, the more the better. -age, the younger the better -weight, the higher the more likely sagging will happen -number of weight gains/losses, the up and downs are not good for the skin -number of pregnancies for the same reason -location of the fat, arms, buttocks and thighs are more likely to sag -belly, the skin in the belly has naturally more collagen which helps woman with pregnancies. This area will tighten better -smoking/drinking alcohol will kill the collagen and you may have more sagging. -height, the taller the more distributed is the fat and you may no notice any sagging. So some will have more others little or nothing. In general people with only 100 pounds extra do not see much at all. People with 200 or more extra pounds will encounter sagging. You also will hit residential fat. That is fat that will not go away. You may need lipo or skin removal for those cases. That is the reason why many end up to uneven. They have lost more in some parts and less in others. This may make clothes shopping interesting. Guest guest
I'm pretty sure that even if I wasn't 51 years old, that my skin is the kind that will sag. I lost 60 pounds 4 years ago and my face really aged. But the worse was the flab on my batwings and thighs. So I'm sure I'm gonna need a little face work, and arms and legs. I'm sure I'm not gonna like it, and I will ate the scars, but the extra weight really makes me have to wear clothes bigger than I need. It did 4 years ago and my be part of the reason why I gained that 40 back plus some extra with it. I'm expecting to have to have some surgery. And I've just accepted that. Guest guest
Shauna, I have found all of this to be fairly easy for me. I have not been hungry since I had the surgery so that is a blessing! As for my weight, I started at 298 and I now weigh 132. So I have lost about 160 lbs. Blows my mind!!!!!!!
