Hi Val and welcome to our group. You will get lots & lots of info

here. I had surgery 1 yera ago. I have lost 161 lbs. As far as what

you need at the hospital? I personally was so doped up, I didn't use

anything I brought with me except lip balm. I never even put my own

PJ's on. I would say bring all the things you think you might need

and even if you don't need them, no harm done. As for protein, I

used Iso-pure powdered. It was the best tasting that I tried. I

liked the chocolate and vanilla. If you have a store called The

Vitamin Shoppe, they are about $10 cheaper than GNC. Good Luck to

you. You will be a " loser " real soon/ Take Care tracy in CA

Val, you did not ask about this, but save all of your gastricp bypass

expenses. The government is allowing this as a tax write off...just

thought I would mention that since you are paying so much out of

pocket. I have Tricare, so mine was a 100% paid by insurance. lisamathis

What state or military area did you have your surgery done? My surgery

was done at Landstuhl here in Germany. What has tricare told you about

plastics? My tummy tuck has already been approved.

Marilynn, I live in Oklahoma, and I had my surgery in Norman Oklahoma

right outside of Oklahoma City. I have not talked to Tricare about a

tummy tuck. What did you do to get yours approved, because I will

need one. What steps did you take? Thanks, lisa

Congrats on your surgery date! :-) I can't tell you what to expect for

pre-op testing. Each surgeon is different in what they require. The

only thing I can recommend you take to the hospital is chapstick or

something similar. My lips stayed so dry!!!! I took a book, cross

stitch, and other things; but never used any of it. I mostly slept,

watched tv, or walked.
