Lorraine, you can buy Gas-X or Phazyme. They come in soft gel tabs, so

I'm not sure how that will work for you.

However, the old fashioned way is to drink something as hot as you can

stand and go for a walk. That might break it up. If you're having

trouble going to the bathroom, stool softeners might do the trick.

If it persists and nothing works, you should contact your surgeon's

office, because maybe it just feels like gas, but is something else.

If you can't expel any gas, it's best to have it checked out.

Have you tried taking a pillow and holding it to your stomach (from

support) and squeezing into the fetal position, putting pressure on

your tummy. Hope you get to feeling better. Happy Holidays, Sherry

Along that same line...what has often worked for me is to sit in a chair, feet

on the floor and bend your upper body far forward, hold a few seconds and then

sit upright again..like a pumping action on your abdomen. Keep repeating this.

Hope it helps.

Hugs,

D.

I suffer from quite a bit of gas and found that there can be a lot of pressure

that causes pain even if there isn't an actual release of gas. Gas X comes in

chewables that work to release the pressure within about 30 minutes. IF you

react to Gas X, or have in the past, buy some anise seed and make a tea. drink

the anise seed tea and because of the heat any gas that needs to be released

will come up, but the anise seed will help relieve the pressure caused by the

bloating of your tummy. Phazyme takes too long for relief, it's really meant for

indigestion, so I don't use it.

Not true. Phazyme is definitely for gas. Check it out on their

website. It's to relieve pressure, pain and bloating caused by gas by

breaking it up. My son and husband swear by it, and neither one

suffers from indigestion. I think you may be confusing it with

another product.

I had gas about three days after surgery and once I was able to let it out,

I was able to have a bowel movement and that really helped me.

I had the gas pains for the first week, it was more uncomfortable then the

surgery itself. It will work it's way, I remember just sitting and rubbing my

stomach to make it move around some, that seemed to help me. One night the gas

climbed under my left ribcage, talk about pain, wheeeww... I took some pain med

and tried to sleep it off, that helped! Best Wishes!
