Guest guest
Why did you use DMPS if the tests didn't show mercury problems? Did you suspect that the tests were wrong based on behavioural issues? Were you using it for the other metal problems? DMPS sounded like such a better choice than DMSA for me, so I figured I would give it a try. I figured that I could use DMSA later if need be. I decided to try DMPS and see what came out. When had a DMSA challenge 9 months ago, arsenic, antimony and lead were high, consistent with the hair test. I had no reason to suspect that Mercury was hiding, other than hearing Moria and others mention that mercury often doesn't show up until the other metals have been eliminated. >Did you suspect that the tests were wrong based on behavioural issues? No. I was thankful that was spared the mercury poisoning unlike the majority of ASD kids. I was wrong, but it was an easier way for me emotionally to find out! Behaviorally, was mildly effected in terms of stimming and not effected at all in terrms of tantrums and aggression. His MAJOR area of concern was that he was non-verbal and acted as if we were all talking a foreign language. He didn't " get " that people used sounds to communcate. He has always been lovable, affecctionate and interested in socializing with adults. With peers, he had no interest. It took a long time to realize that was " on the spectrum " becsue he did not and does not fit the criteria. His play, until beginning DMPS, was primitive and lacked imagination. CONCLUSION: In my own personal experience, (with an n=1, not worth a cent in terms of scientific evidence), a three day round of DMPS on Andy's protocol followed by a urine toxic metals test is a much better indicator of mercury toxicity than DMSA or a hair test. The reason being that 1) mercury can hide and not disrupt mineral transport on a hair test and 2) DMSA will preferentially chelate lead and the mercury will not show up.
