Thanks Kitt, He got his second one today and it hurt a little but its because

i have to do it in the same leg.He is so thin that he doesn't have any flabby

skin on his arms or his stomach and his left leg is much smaller then his

right leg due to the club foot. So i have to move it around on his right leg

but he wanted to help today and he decided where to put it, so it ended up a

little to close to the same location as last time. I feel its important for

him to know how to give himself his meds and learn how to set up the Enbrel

injection and learn how to give it to himself. I also teach and

how to give him is meds so if i am not here to give him his meds then they

can do it. They aren't ready to learn how to give jesse the shot yet but i am

working on them. I told its one time he can stick his brother and get

away with it and he liked that idea.

anyway hope you are doing good. Take care,

There is, in most cases (i think), a direct link to bone/walking

difficulties and OUR cases of " just being short " . To whomever asked,

do check it out... I consider myself " Just short " but because of the

way my hip, knee, and ankle joints work together I do get to have a

handicapped parking sticker.

Although I doubt that if just being short were allowed, they STILL

wouldn't let children drive. ;)

16 year olds drive... An adult is a person who is 18 and older or 21

and older in some places. And some places they do let under 16 year

olds drive...for instance...If a family owns Many acres of land, the

kids can drive on thier own property ...even at aged 12.

And second of all..I misread her post...my mind was thinking about

something else as I was typing it...I know what I meant to say, and I

didn't word my thoughts properly

But I believe some people can figure out what I was trying to say.

Could you please send more info about the meeting in Reno later this month.

My doctor really would like to attend. Also is there controversy over using

clorox to kill mold. I have been told that quartternary ammonia is the thing

to use.

Thanks,

Nettie, a question I have heard more than once that surprises me at times is

" Did you know before she was born that she would have Down's? " That is one of

those I think if I were in the mood I would shoot back with " why? Do you think I

should've had her? "

Count My Blessings

I count my blessings when you smile at me... a smile that lights up

my whole

world.

I count my blessings when you hug me...with your little arms so

tightly

conveying your love.

I count my blessing when you cuddle on my lap. And with your low

muscle tone

you fit so much better than a child of 6 should.

I count my blessing when I see the scar on your chest....and know

that God

has worked another miracle and guided the Drs. hands.

I count my blessing when I see you fight with your brother..seeing

how much

you are teaching him about compassion and yes, blessings.

I count my blessing when I remove you from your sisters bed knowing

that

before the morning comes....You'll be back with her . And seeing her

heart

expanding to encompass and her arms embrace...not just you, but all

who waver

from the norm.

I count my blessing when conflicts arise at school. Knowing that you

have

been sent to be a teacher to the teachers...And that we will all

learn

patience and co-operation from this.

I count my blessing when I cry and turn to others for comfort.. For

through

those tears I have made some wonderous friendships.....From both

those with

blessings like mine ..And those without.

I count my blessing when I am chasing you from activity to activity,

knowing

that I will never have a reason to complain about too much spare

time!

I count my blessing when I have to interpret your sign language and

jibberish.. Because I know that not only are you trying to

communicate, but

someone is trying to listen!!

I count my blessing when I loose you at the mall and after five

frantic

minutes find you riding up and down the escalatores calling " Whee!! "

to all

who will listen.. for through this I know that you have an

independence and a

spirit of adventure that will help you go far.

I count my blessing when I get one of your sweet, sloppy

kisses..Knowing that

they will never end and that they are sharing with me ALL YOUR LOVE.

I count my blessing when you smile and hug a stranger because now

THEY can

count you as a Blessing, too!

I count my blessing....whenever I look at you. You ARE my

Blessing!!

This was so well put. I think some of these sentiments privately already!

That's actually a question I enjoy. I get to say " Yes. I did! " And if they

don't say anything I add, " ... and I thank God everyday that I didn't do

something stupid about it. He's a wonderful little boy. " I think it's

important for people to know that there are plenty of us around who did know

and chose to have our children.

I would say something like ... " The New York Knicks (Chicago Bulls) are

Hi All!

I've heard about for nearly 4 years and have FINALLY jumped on the

bandwagon. I have 3 kiddos; Elaine 9, 7, and Conor 3. E & G have

" Typically Cantankerous Child syndrome " and Conor only has DS - so far.

I was really interested in the question of how to react to peoples questions

about their children's size. Conor is (typically) small as are most kiddos with

DS but GREGORY is really big -- always has been. He was born at 11.5 lbs!

(stop cringing, it was a c-section). It is the questions and comments about

that I have a hard time fielding. Mostly because he is super sentitive

them.

For Conor comments I usually just agree - because he IS small and at this point

it doesn't bother him. I sometimes joke about how lucky I am to have clothes

that fit him for more than one season or how lucky he is not to have gotten my

genes.

I know I may eventually be in the same boat with Conor as I am with Greg now if

(when) he starts to become sensitive to the comments.

I guess I'd rather have people ask questions or make comments (even uneducated

ones) than stare in silence. It's an opportunity for growth -- my own in

patience and theirs in DS awareness.

Patty, " Count My Blessing " is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever

rread. Are you familiar with " Heaven's Vary Special Child?'' I will send it

along if you would like. A friend of mine who has a sister, age 37 with ds

passd it on to me after Chase was born. In fact when we told our families at

Chase's christening that he has Down Syndrome we read it to all of them.. I

will pass it along to my mother in law who after almost four yeasr continues

to struggle with the concept of DS. Carolyn Will (6) Chase (3 ds).

Yes, I may just do that. I guess, I didn’t want to at first, because I

am such a softy, that is they had said anything negative about her, I

know, I would have burst into tears, but now, I am much stronger, and I

think I have finally accepted it all. Cheryl S
