Guest guest
Ok...i wrote the following to her attorney..along with two articles... cindi Dear Mr. Parnham, Due to the recent events surrounding Mrs. Yates trial, I wanted to alert you to something that a number of thyroid patients have observed regarding . She exhibits many symptoms of someone with Hashimoto's Disease. She also appears in photographs to have an enlarged thyroid gland. I would think it imperative that she be tested for thyroid antibodies to determine is this is the origin of her psychiatric problems. The two antibody tests are Thyroid Peroxidase and Thyroid Antithyroglobulin. Hashimoto's is responsible for a great deal of psychiatric manifestations to include postpartum disturbance. I have enclosed two articles for you and if you need additional information I can provide it. I have studied the psychiatric aspects of Hashimoto's for about a year and have accumulated a lot of information. I can also tell you this disease is often overlooked by physicians. My own history includes an initial Hashi's flare after childbirth over 25 years ago and yet I was not diagnosed until last year. Thyroid disease is poorly understood and treated these days since the advent of TSH testing to determine thyroid function. Prior to the advent of the TSH test, thyroid disease was treated by symptoms. Additional tests to determine Mrs. Yates thyroid function would be a Free T4 and Free T3 test. If her lab values are in the lower 1/3 of the range, this could account for her psychiatric disturbance. I hope this may prove to be helpful to Mrs. Yates. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
